161 - I totally disagree, which does suck since I'm working at Katsucon next weekend. While I love fandom and wouldn't give it up, I really can't stand most otaku. Nearly everyone I've met at cons are stuck up and think that because you are just a casual fan, you're beneath them. I don't know the VAs, I don't know the production studios, I don't know the artists, and somehow all of these make me a worse fan. I try to make friendly conversation and I get talked over like nothing I say matters because I enjoy the anime for the sake of enjoying the anime rather than being stuck-up about it like they are.

161. Man, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience. My only experience at a Con was pretty good, since I was in a group of friends, and everyone seemed to be less interested in being Hard Core and more interested in just being silly.

In fact, the downside for my Con was that some of the younger guests were a little bit too silly, and forgot that their internet wasn't everyone's internet - I showed a girl my Aang (twelve-year-old character) sticker and she (about thirteen) commented on how she wanted Zuko (a sixteen-year-old character) to come up behind him and... I was dismayed.

Hopefully your next Con experience will be somewhere in the middle!

If she were a guy, I'll bet they'd be fangirling over her like no tomorrow.

Or if Allen/Rabi/Kanda were female characters, could you possibly imagine those same fangirls loving them as much? Not a chance. They're be called the mary-sues. However, being male characters gives them an immunity ticket from the fangirl hate.

Yes on the Otacon/Snake pairing, they're too perfect. And I do know that Ocelot has to be gayer than gay ever could be.....but I can't ship Big Boss with anyone. Even with Eva, which is pretty implied canon, it just doesn't work for me.

Oh, I didn't know Dead Like Me the movie was already out! I though it was only this summer.

Actually, a decent number of people on the comm are comics-verse fans. It's why a lot of us ship the Steve/Tony pairing - because they're slashy as all get out during recent(ish) comics canon.

We also *don't* think Tony's a dick in the books (not, not even in Civil War, which most of us have read, thank you, since that storyline is the reason half of us started shipping the pairing). You may not like him in 616 canon, but we do.
