101. :’( Online friends?

103. Gahh! Another Harvest Moon secret!?! I don’t really ship anything in this game. I think Chase/Gill was the best suggestion ever, but the amount of good fic out there is… non-existant, so I can’t get myself excited about any pairings for ToT.

114. Lol, beautiful.

117. But he has such a big extended family with the Weasleys that I can’t really see him being the only influence on his kids.

122. It’s a touching song! I don’t see a problem with it!

132. Uh oh… I might want to partake in that now…

138. I don’t know… I think it’s interesting to think about, but writing fic does seem a little inappropriate.

[identity profile] mikeyarrum.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
117. That is... a really good point, actually. Poor Harry is kind of left to mature on his own since the beginning (I think, I know next to nothing about the series). Gosh, this is gonna keep me up at night.

140. What gets me most about this secret is the "12 issues" line. Some poems aren't even a whole page and they're popular for decades, or even centuries. Doesn't make them, or any other literature, any less epic for being short.

[identity profile] voodoo-buddha.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
110. Do it anyway. Fuck 'em. One of the most respected and prolific writers in the Kakasaku community is currently writing a fic wherein Kakashi is traitor to Konoha and spy for an enemy group bent on the village's destruction.

For interest, identification, and harmony in colors. If everything in fiction were made to be as realistic as they can possibly be, there would've been no Gundam franchise in the first place and many other series would've never been created because of such tight restrictions. How many kids and young adults would care to watch a highly realistic Gundam series (if that's even possible)? Everyone in the same faction would wear the same uniforms and hairstyle due to regulations. Nobody would get the SPESHUL treatment to pilot a Gundam, so you're left with nothing but grunts, ships, and bases. Nobody would watch something like that, so it wouldn't be profitable to make the series.

The use of primary colors and white used on the main character's Gundam and pilot suit, and the use of secondary colors on the remaining three meisters are straight from high school art theory books. They just couldn't make Virtue/Seravee/Seraphim purple because it wouldn't stand out on a black background in space.

130.
Personally, I like how he doesn't make excuses to defend his selfishness. All humans are selfish to varying degrees, it's only a matter of whether you realize and accept the fact and how much of it you reveal to others. Ali is practical to the extreme. He'd do anything for good money and ruin people's lives for emotional enjoyment while he's at it. Common folk would sabotage their colleague's work or badmouth them in order to prevent becoming the one laid off during hard times. They do it for money and ruin people's lives. Many would even shift the blame onto others and feign a good image while they're at it, some would even be in denial that they're selfish acts. We're all doing it for ourselves, just on a smaller scale than Ali. There's nothing charming about it. It's just not worth the energy to loathe over human nature constantly.

I am sick of the lack of development in his character though. He's been nothing but a troll since day one and still is (presumably). Ali to Gundam is like plot twists to CLAMP series.

141.
How is this fandom?

[identity profile] marumae.livejournal.com 2009-03-02 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
108-Okay I can understand being upset that people hate something that's obviously a favorite of yours but seriously, a disagreement of personal taste means they should die? Wow.

163-*Screeches to a halt* Whoa, whoa he did what now? Wow I'm late to this fandom @_@;

164-Honestly secret maker, you would have won more points had you sounded less like an arrogant ass hat. True definition or not, there are more elegant and less snotty ways of conveying your opinion.

127: Commenting. :P No, seriously, I'm an equal opportunity Doctorshipper (same with Jack), and while I see your Ace and raise you a Sarah Jane, I love the way you put together the secret. Awesome work. *icon used on purpose*

144: Ouch. A little harsh, but yes, I agree. I can't stand the random Politifandom bashing, or the constant "ewwwww RPS is icky!" (because apparently shipping CW or Twilight actors is totally okay). And really, if you don't like it, ignore it.

111. I can see it. But then again, I just kind of desperately want fic of Blitz with someone.
...
I did so love their intro-interaction.

140. Mm. Really, Watchmen, to me, isn't like most comics. Most Alan Moore stories aren't. They're like books. Thick ones. Books that you'd probably read in a Gifted English class and discuss in minutia. It just happens that the absolute best media to tell his stories in...is comics. Visual, but with controlled time and prose.

Your "12 issues and it's this popular?" statement is just plain ignorant. You might as well say that about Star Wars (originals) or Back to the Future--3 movies and they're this popular. Watchmen was a complete story from beginning to end, and in all honesty, it's not one that you can only read once. I finally, with some misgivings, picked it up for the second time around and listened to an issue-by-issue podcast after reading it...and it blew my mind. It is still not my favourite sort of story by a long shot, but it is a good story. It's as finely crafted as a museum piece.

It's probably fair to say Watchmen is the Citizen Kane of comics. Not everyone's read it/seen it, it certaintly isn't everyon'e cup of tea, but it's a great comic/movie, and it's a classic in the industry. You haven't heard of it not because it wasn't popular, but because, well, you just don't know your comicbook history.

It does read like a schoolbook sometimes. It's not really about "something epic" happening the way it happens in most superhero books. It's much deeper and quieter than that. It's certainly something I didn't appreciate until I was five years older.

113.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/kasumi_/ 2009-03-02 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, I actually kind of know where you're coming from. Though since fandom pretty much created him, they also gave him a personality that could be easily related to, esp. by fans of the series. I've been told I'm Matt-ish, but realistically that could mean a million different things, which is pretty hilarious. Let's hope it's the awesome!fanon and not the pathetic lapdog!one, uh.

116. Oh god me too!! I was wondering is anyone else saw it. That show needs a bigger fandom.
