102. LOST is a soap? And here I thought it was a mystery. That's the reason behind the pacing. You can't show all of your cards in one turn. But if it is a soap then by the end of series someone is going to have Ben's baby. But it won't actually be Ben's baby but an evil twin implanted by Charles Widmore under the orders of the thing that is disguising itself as Jacob. And it will turn out that fake Jacob is actually Jacob's sister's neighbor's cousin's dentist who quit dentistry years ago to become a pilot. Yes, the pilot in the first episode faked his death with the help of Smokey and is actually pulling the strings on the Island.

Whoa, I think I broke something there.

105. I just want to know where is that picture from? I love the costumes.

113. Best sci-fi bromance ever! Well, at least since Fawkes and Hobbes. (I still miss those guys.)

Honestly speaking, that doesn't sound so far-fetched for a Lost plot-line.

102. This doesn't seem like that much of a secret, more like an essay. An intriguing essay (that you should write and expand on, OP, because I remain Unconvinced), but not that much of a secret. That said, I am amused at how Comics are categorized as more female-pacing.

104. Genderbending is fun, yo.

105. That picture is awesome. By the way - I agree. Fandom really shouldn't be such Serious Business all the time (but I do think that sometimes people need to get away from it).

112. Your colours are confusing me. I had no idea which one(s) you were referring to until the last bit. Also! Flash is awesome. Personally, I like the Bat-family a lot better than the Superman-family, but I like Supes the character better than Bats the character. 'Cause I like the nice ones.

119. IT'S A TRAP. HE HAS A VAGINA. UNLESS YOU SWING THAT WAY THEN IT IS TOTALLY COOL.

135. That's from Spirou et Fantasio, right? I want to read that so bad! Curse my inability to comprehend french despite taking it for ten years.

136. ♥

144. I dunno. I'm not really familiar with the Heroes fandom, but I am familiar with art. And a piece I drew in five minutes with no effort was the one two professors and most of my class really liked. Unfortunately, time and effort do not necessarily make good art. Of course, you could be right. Maybe I'm not getting the point...

152. Awww, Chuck.

160. Snowboard kids? That has a fandom? What?

169. I'm not a big fan of Tony, but you know - there's no bad characters, just badly handled characters.

102. And the secret here is? (Other then thing about Bjork, because that was just huh).

138. I personally prefer Wing, but I find most comments about either of the shows' objective quality to be pretty spurious in that neither of them are all that great, both of them plotwise are pretty much in the mediocre pile. I go basically by I like Wing's cast better, and find it more entertaining then 00 which I am mostly just bored with. All Gundam series are recyclings of the original anyway, so arguments how the new series are more unique and whatever seem really silly to me.

Gundam 00 like most of its AU predecessors isn't breaking any new ground.

You may as well enjoy both, I would say just watch it to watch it and don't bother comparing.

145. Oh god, mushed pairings names are so annoying, they all sound like either alien species or prescription drugs, and sometimes even like sound effects. I can maybe understand their use on places like FFN or places where you have a limit of how much information you could put, but on LJ they are really offputting.

[identity profile] aletofora.livejournal.com 2009-03-04 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I completely agree. While 00 implemented certain elements better than Wing, overall nothing's particularly fresh. Most of the characters I liked in 00 are now dead or no longer focused on, so I become restless even through the thirty minutes it takes to watch an episode. Wing wasn't one of the best, but it remains my favorite because the characters do maintain a little depth.

144. I hear ya about Heroes fandom, man.

146. My monitor's a bit dark: is that Sylar/Luke? If so,

[identity profile] georg-vanlunden.livejournal.com 2009-03-03 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
101. Oh man, I can see how that would be a problem because THAT is one bitching toy.

102. Wow. This is the first time I've even heard the word "yonic". Sanskrit word for "vaginal"? Anyhow, does this mean tension that is swept away is a metaphor for sex for women being like having a lot of build-up that leads to nothing, or does the female orgasm just don't feel like anything when it arrives? I mean, talking about a shows climax and build-up like it's sex feels a little... off, somehow. I think I'm lost. And confused. And that THAT doesn't bode well for my future sex-life.

Also which pacing is it that you really prefer then, the yonic or the phallic?

116 ... Huh. He truly could be. Not that I really care since he wasn't in any real pairings I am emotionally invested in.

127. In the meanwhile, I, a Swede, is sitting here wondering just... how the HELL a relationship like that even happened. Because our two countries are not lovey-dovey with one another. Heck if anything, I'd see Sweden having troubling, problematic relationships with everyone because he's so non-committal.

133. Tell me who this woman is, because for some reason I can see it and love it already, just from the scorn in their eyes.

145. Holy croc are those litte things conjoined by their genitals or hips?

127

(Anonymous) 2009-03-03 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
It's pretty much fanon rather than canon, I think. There really isn't much about them in the actual comic strips, and most of the time it's Sweden going "u r mai waifu" with Finland looking like he wants to cry. (Mind you, they do own a dog and adopt Sealand, but it's just crack more than anything.)

I don't actually think that writing stuff for yourself which is mary-sue is bad. Hell, we've all had dreams about our favourite characters and ourselves, right? It's only when you post it somewhere and expect praise that people get pissed off.

And, as bad as you say the fandom is- you wrote fic for us, so...

maybe the reason your other fics hardly get comments is because they suck?

Nah. Actually, my real fics tend to have a fairly wide range as far as comments go. Some get hardly any, some get a handful, and some get lots. The fic that I personally believe is the best I have ever written got a grand total of three comments. I also have a few real fics which have gotten twice as many comments as the fake Mylar fic. All that to say that the point is, the quality of the fic - in this fandom, at least - has little to no bearing on how many comments it receives.

Nice try at pissing me off, though.

Penises and Vaginas are not for looking at :P Every one is different, and I guarantee you if you're to the point with someone where they're getting a gander of your vagoo, they don't care much about what it looks like. 104 - I'm not really sure what's not to get. Messing with genders is fun, and sometimes it can be really enlightening. It can make you realize how the same attitudes/motivations/actions are characterized differently by gender. And sometimes it highlights the ridiculousness of gender imbalances. These things are relevant to my interests. I can understand that not everyone likes them, because these are things that don't necessarily appeal to them, but I don't see why it should be taken as a given any more than canon ships or sexuality.

116 - Hey, let the old woman keep her play. They don't get that much of it.

133 - ...I don't know why that should be a secret. Of course, she would top.

162 - I loved them in that game. I totally ship them. The end still pissed me off, though. Elika should punch him in the face.

Re: 104

(Anonymous) 2009-03-04 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
It's interesting to me how many people have come out and said that they like it because of gender identity, but the only fics I've ever seen are just smut fic with no point. Or I see it on RP, with lots of people going 'OH NOES I HAVE BOOBZ' and little more content than that.

I told someone on an earlier page it might actually be interesting if there was a lot of stuff out there with real thought put into it; often, it seems like there's no thought put into it at all.

(Although there's a lot of stuff that goes on in fandom that seems to be lacking in thought, to be fair.)

It's pretty sweet Anon, let me tell you. I get all kinds of hot bitches. They let me eat for free at Denny's -- and we're not talking just a shortstack, oh hell no. None of that cheapness. That's for Not So Big Name Fans. We're talking a Rooty Tooty Fresh N' FUCKIN' Fruity. Yeah, that's right. I get a choice of THREE fruit toppings. Not one. Not two.
Three.

Then of course there's that time they asked me to be on Carson. Not Johnny, since he's... you know... dead. I don't like dead people. I'm talking Carson Daly. Yup. There isn't a stoned college student or insomniac that doesn't know my name.

I'd say the best thing of all about being a BNF though? Oh, you know where I'm going with this. You'd think it would be the bitches -- now, don't get me wrong the bitches are pretty sweet -- but nah, it's the money. Seriously. All I have to do is walk down the street and people just HAND me some. I once had a woman tell me one of my icons saved her life. She says she thinks it was the tiny unreadable text that finally helped her put her life in perspective. So she ended up finally finishing her Master's degree, became a neurosurgeon, and sent me a check for $100,000 in gratitude.

Yup, being a BNF is preeeetty sweet.
