I'd go with a friend who's seen it, and tell them to nudge you or something whenever a scene you don't wanna see is coming up so you can close your eyes. I remember I had some friends who did that during Sleepy Hollow, I think...

147. Sorry, OP, but obvious fake is obvious. Not that I wouldn't friggin' LOVE a movie for Phantom Renegade (be still my heart!), but "banned for violence?" A spinoff movie for Medabots? ...Yeah, I don't think so.

164. I can't particularly say your friends have the best taste, and not realizing the Comedian is a typical Magnificent Bastard is a bit disturbing. However, as long as the two have a good, healthy relationship themselves, does it really matter what they cosplay?

170. Don't worry about it too much. I think everyone who reads fics has their own pet peeves. I know I hit the back button like mad if the author decides they're going to use honorifics (which in of itself I'm totally cool with), but then clearly doesn't know which honorifics the characters use for each other.

Linking to DA pages doesn't bother me unless people make an LJ cut, then have just the links to their DA page under the cut. It's like, why bother? Oh no, I'm making two extra lines with my links, I better put them under a cut so as to not annoy anyone with the length! Put your pic up under that cut, then have the link to the DA version under the pic if you like, but don't waste my time making me click unnecessary links.

(And yeah, it's not like clicking one extra link is that much of a drag, but it's just so pointless and irrationally annoys me.)

139. If you're particularly squeamish, I might not see it, but try to detach yourself from the violence itself if you really want to see it, OP. Personally, I found the Watchmen movie to be as (if not more) violent as Total Recall (which was INCREDIBLY gory), but as much as I cringed at some of the scenes, I still enjoyed both of those movies.

I would post my liking a crazy character/villian =/= agreeing with their morals, but...this doesn't seem to be the case here. :/ You can still like the Comedian and acknowledge his douchebaggery, but calling him an all-out badass and dismissing his actions is questionable. I could see why you feel this way. "RAPE FUCK YEAR" isn't the reaction you should be getting, though Sally does have feelings for Comedian after the attempted rape.

If you read the paperback collection, the introduction at the beginning of the book says this exactly. Sometimes Jhonen tosses around some thoughtful ideas, but mostly yes, it's just a proxy running around killing people Jhonen doesn't like.
