There was nothing fantasy about it. I could give you all the raunchy details, but yes, it legitimately happened. He was my social studies teacher. It happens all the time. You have no idea until you look for it, but I guarantee you that at least three teachers were fucking students in your high school. Absolutely guarantee. It is insane. I regret every moment of it.

120. Except that K/S is responsible for slash in the first place, so they're nothing really that new. But I think you're right that there will be an influx of fic an art. Did you know that it used to be that when someone was talking about slash, they were talking about them? I think it's pretty cool =)

124. Way to get the point and be a dumbass about it. That's the whole reason behind the comic: vent vent vent and make some money at the same time. Jhonen managed to turn it into a story within the last three comics, but the whole point of JTHM was an ordinary person's way of dealing with a bad day. It's occasionally insightful, but only occasionally. I say all this as a fanauthor and fanartist for the JTHM fandom. Honestly, not all fans have their head up their asses.

140. I believe just the opposite. Things can be really hard for some people to say. People in general (especially in fandom) can be extremely judgmental. They can risk losing otherwise good friends for voicing certain opinions. I'm kind of wondering what you'd think of the regular LJ Secret community.

I'm realising from comments that I wasn't clear enough in my secret. I assumed that everyone would know that the whole world and their dog already knows about the historical slash importance of K/S. Yes, I know about TOS K/S, zine culture, etc. That's why I think relaunch K/S for a whole new generation has such cool refexive squee-value.

128: In general, I'm not a fan of fake cuts (especially unlabeled ones) that go to other forums (DA, FF.N etc). And if goes to another forum you have to join before you can look at the content, or they link to their lj, but it's f-locked, then *EFF* it. Make the image/story/whatever accessible to everyone on the comm you're posting it on, or don't bother posting there it at all.

129: Hey, if I've not seen the movie or read the graphic novel, will this thing make any sense to me? Or does it give anything important away? I'm kinda curious about it, but if it, has a lot in jokes about the story and characters (like what abridged series tend to do) or something, I'll wait till I can see the movie or can get my hands on the GN. Granted, maybe I should do that anyway...

132: I'm gonna say what comes to mind whenever someone posts a "but it's a dog and a baby" comment about these two: Yes, it's baby and a dog, but both of them act like adult human men 95% of the time. So, big deal.

170: I can actually see that. I know sometimes I'll see a character refer to another character by the wrong name in a fic (not just a last name/first name thing either) and it'll be like, "WTF?" I mean, if they start out properly then justify the switch in the course of the story, ok, but if it's wrong right off the bat, it does kinda make me less inclined to read the fic.
Though one thing to keep in mind is that there are cases where the characters refer to each other differently in different versions. For example, in DBZ, a lot of characters in the original call Goku by his family name (Son, usually with "-kun" as the honorific), while in the English dub, it's almost always "Goku". So Piccolo calling Goku... well, "Goku" is ok by me, since it's what he calls him in at least one version. But if, for example, the writer has Vegeta calling Goku "Goku" or "Son", or any variation thereof, that's just wrong in any version.

It's best if you have read the graphic novel - it's probably mildly amusing when seen on its own, but it's loaded with spoilers and pretty much every line is an inside joke, so yeah...

140. That isn't really a secret, that is quite obvious.

144. I don't understand why they needed a gender at all. In fact, I feel that the obvious gendering of the robots that they did was the only real problem I had with the film.

150. I don't dislike her so much as I feel her role in the story is over, and I don't think she was best served by being a long term character. She has pretty much been doing nothing for more than half the series, and I feel that kind of made her less interesting then she was originally.

101) That's a really tough situation. On the one hand, she's a friend, on the other she probably doesn't realize how her negativity is bringing you down and she really aught to be told even if it hurts her feelings. I'm guilty about snarking about fics myself, but to my credit I try to keep those things to communities or groups who are comfortable with them. I use my journal to discuss more general problems with fics rather than showcasing how a specific fic gets it wrong. Maybe if your friend did that you'd feel a bit more free to experiment with fandom.

115) Most of the people in these communities aren't flaming fucktards. I can understand not wanting to open yourself up to the possibility of negative reviews, but you may just discover that people actually appreciate the work you do, and that's a pretty awesome feeling. Being shy really sucks a lot of the fun out of life.

115. You know what that reminds me of? I like one slash pairing a lot, so people try to pressure me into a zillion and one slash fandoms. I just don't want to, partially for the same reason you listed. The other part is I literally do not care about general slash. ._.

I'd say "oh, I think I know who you're talking about", but truth is there's one in every fandom (even my little fandom, which has maybe six or seven active writers at the very most and about the silliest source material possible, but leave it to the internet to take all the fun out of that...).
