My upcoming hearing was moved from May 15 to may 11. Gah. But it is a case I'm very confident about, so that's good.

I haven't been sleeping well again this week. Really exhausted. Had several panic attacks today. Also have had a mixed migraine and tension headache for the past 3 days.

Gacha is a bad reason to have your blood pressure face a dangerous spike, particularly when you have a brain vascular issue that could go awry any day, but here we fucking are.

I just had a horrible day/week/month and was REALLY eager for today's update, hoping that it would heal me from the emotional pain. I was hoping to get Baizhu in few primos so I could go for Alhaitham/Kazuha in 3.7 too. I did NOT expect to NOT get Baizhu as far as pity 140/180, particularly because I seem to be the only person on Earth who actually WANTED Baizhu (since 2021) (and biggest Pantalone simp ever) and didn't pull only for Kaveh. It's worse because I haven't had much time to play (and will have even less until June) and have been sacrificing sleep (and feeling unhealthy / sleepy at work, whoops) to collect primos. For today's sake.

Goodbye, Genshin Impact. We had a good run. But the last months felt kinda dragged out, and I don't like your company either, so whatevers. Here's hoping the company will at least disconnect my account from my PSN so I can sell it for a few bucks, /sighs. The deep dive into gnosticism was horrible, btw, but the deep dive into Catullus will remain in my heart.

Work sucks. I'm in the end-of-month crunch with a deadline on Thursday and a minion I'm training so I'm fucking busy and other teams in other DIVISIONS keep coming to me to solve their problems because they don't know how to do their own jobs. LEAVE ME ALONE.

Been playing a lot of FFXIV and just tried tanking with actual people for the first time over the weekend.

My character is so not the "Dark Knight" type so I put a ridiculous glam over the heavy armor and have been tanking as a giant mascot chocobo with a huge claymore. I am... the WARK KNIGHT. :D

(Hey, as long as it's making me laugh, it's worth it.)

Currently doing a bunch of dungeons solo to power up a relic weapon I acquired on lunch break today, heh.

My stomach's upset again and it could be from all the stuff I've been drinking with artificial sweetener (because I have type 2 diabetes), or the diabetes pill. At least I'm reading something comforting and relaxing: Skating Shoes (a/k/a White Boots) by Noel Streatfeild.

What is a game that will always bring you joy no matter how old and outdated it gets?

Been playing old favorites and feeling nostalgic. Some games hold up, some really really don't.

Classic answer that's true for me, Zelda Ocarina of Time and Super Mario World. Just straight up simple fun for both of them.

Currently I've been replaying Assassin's Creed Odyssey and really enjoying myself.

Well, I wish they would recreate Where in Time is Carmen Sandiego for modern computers. I loved playing that so much as a kid. I'd really love to play it again.

The Legacy of Kain series will always be my baby. Along with Panzer Dragoon Saga, which sadly basically no one can play legitimately now due to its rarity.

I used to live with someone who basically refused to play any games from before 2010 or so because he couldn't deal with the outdated/blocky graphics, which is such a shame to me. There's such a huge focus now on prettying up and remaking games that haven't even been out that long. I love me some mid-90's polygonal jank.

Just mentioned this up in a different comment thread, but I've been diving back into Guild Wars and I'm surprised how much it holds up. Pure nostalgia and fun.

Ocarina of Time is classic.

Rune Factory Frontier is my number one.
From my Genesis days... Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Cool Spot, Rampart, and Clayfighter. The Sonic Adventure games from the Dreamcast.
Fire Emblem's Tellius games.
Diablo II.
I think Civ V hits in a way Civ VI doesn't, for more recent nostalgic games.

I really like "The Game of Life" board game. I know it's not actually a great game but it's buried DEEP in my lizard brain. Spinner good.

Solitaire, minesweeper, tetris, all golden. I haven't played that many other games long enough to know that I'll love them. I have stayed with The Sims 3 for an awfully long time though.

I used to love Punch Buggy too but there are almost no bugs on the roads anymore because of That Serious Fraud which is a bummer on multiple levels.

Funny you mention AC Odyssey because I play the original Assassin's Creed when I get a new gaming computer. I'm a weirdo who prefers the original over any of the others. I have played and continue to play new AC games, but I prefer the original over the RPG it became with Ezio. It would make my decade if they would remaster THAT game instead of AC III.

I do love AC Odyssey though; I actually just finished it in Feb. I played Kassandra basically as if she were me, so ace. I'm thinking of playing it again as Alexios and making him gay all day.

How do you not care what anyone thinks of you?

I live in the southern US, and everyone my age I know, everyone I grew up with/went to school with is married (or divorced) with kids. I'm definitely not interested in kids, most likely not interested in marriage, and not particularly even interested in dating anyone right now (I keep saying "right now", thinking it's going to change eventually, but to be completely honest, I'm not sure it ever will) and I just...don't fit in with them. I can't help but feel like a complete weirdo/outcast.

I vent to my mom because all the people I used to consider friends are busy changing diapers and talking to other moms and telling me that I "just wouldn't understand" anything going on with them because I don't have kids. And her solution is "stop caring what they think", which...is easier said than done. I also feel like it's easier for her to say because she's never been in my position. She got married, bought a house, had kids...she's always been "normal" and done the expected thing. I'm a woman in my 30s who isn't married, doesn't have kids, hasn't even been in a relationship in several years and has (other than my parents' house) never lived anywhere except a one bedroom apartment by myself.

It's easy for someone who's never been "abnormal" to say you shouldn't care what someone thinks, but much harder when you can't go anywhere or do anything without the constant bombardment of what you "should" be doing, and the implication that you're a complete failure if you're not doing those things. Even down to small things like getting ads for baby/kid stuff and articles about the best anniversary gifts because even the freaking algorithms assume you must be married and have kids.

On top of all that, I just lost my job at place I've been at for over a decade (because it's a small business that's been struggling financially since the pandemic, I was the only employee, and the boss's wife will work for free) and I'm not sure what to do next. I've always just worked administrative/office jobs, I don't have any great passions or whatever when it comes to a career, and that makes me feel bad, too.

Meanwhile, my brother has a fancy job, makes a ton of money, lives in a huge house, has a partner and kids, and I can't help but feel like a total failure compared to him. My parents say they don't care about any of that and just want me to do whatever makes me happy, but I can't help but feel like they're disappointed in me, even if they don't say it.

I feel like I would be happy, if I didn't feel like I was constantly being judged every waking second. Or if I could somehow figure out how to not care if I was being judged, but I just don't know how.

I don't know, sorry for all the rambling, but has anyone else felt similarly? Or just in general, how do you NOT constantly compare yourself to other people and feel like you're not good enough?

Lately I've been on a couple subreddits for different fandoms (I know, Reddit's probably not the best place for fandom, but I just can't get into Tumblr/Twitter) and have come across "well, I'm not an A/B shipper, but I do want them to get together" comments like half a dozen times and am confused. In all my time in fandom, that's always been what shipping is, but I haven't said anything in case I was wrong. Has the definition of shipping changed, or do they just not know what they're talking about?
