I think that last part is an incredibly skewed and bad faith take on the plot point. Anne's House of Dreams wasn't my favorite, but I love Rainbow Valley and the kids so I'm glad the later books exist. Eh.

Yeah, I wasn't fond of it either. I think the only real "Anne" bit we get is that her eldest daughter dies in infancy, and she has five more kids, and she insists she has six children, not five, despite massive pressure to just gloss over the loss of the first one. I didn't mind the Anne/Gilbert relationship in itself, but the loss of focus on Anne was not great, and there were huge historic things happening at the time the books are set, there's no reason why she wouldn't be part of that!

I think it's fairly relevant to the momification of Anne that LM Montgomery herself had a very unstable, deeply lonely childhood and adolescence, and a difficult marriage, and the later storylines may have been wish fulfillment for her

Some of those later books are kind of meh but they're worth it for Rilla of Ingleside, which is second only to Anne of Green Gables in my mind

Sometimes, when there's a big sports game between two teams you absolutely despise, you feel like your rooting interest is for a meteor to fall out of the sky and crush the stadium.

That feels like the same as this situation.

Times like this I'm really glad I stick to a carefully curated Youtuber bubble, so when drama happens, it's all off to the side of what I'm doing. I have no idea who either of these people are, except that apparently drama's going on, and I don't really care about that.

Is Don't Starve a rougelike? I thought to be a rougelike you had to carry over stats and experience to the next attempt after you die.

As someone who likes video games but sucks at them I kind of like them. It takes me an embarrassing amount of attempts, but at some point I get just overpowered enough that I beat the game anyway.

I'm kind of with you. I intensely dislike roguelikes; they feel so pointless. I want to know that my effort actually means something, and while I like a challenge, I don't want a game to feel as frustrating and futile as real life. Real life already fucking feels that way! That's why I'm playing a game!

That said, roguelites I can sometimes enjoy, because even though you're repeating fights, there's still persistent progression. I can stand to fight the same boss over and over if my armor, health, items, etc are improving each time that I do.

My personal favourite is Jessica Jones season one. That was so friggin' good. And at least as far as I know, was never screwed over by the movie department, so yay!

Not trying to be mean, but I'm not sure you're coming to the right place. If you only want support, you're going to have to pick and choose what you post about and be very, very careful about how you word it, and even then, somebody will probably still have an opposing opinion. Also, some people very obviously do come here for a fight, some even actually state that in their secrets. Beyond that, I have to say I always assumed people realized when they posted a secret, they were inviting other people's opinions of it - good, bad, and ugly. I can get wanting people to agree with you, but expecting it from everyone, I don't get that. And I'm pretty sure ordering people to be nice is not going work.
