I find the silence on the matter telling, lol. I hadn't watched it since 2010 but I stayed up 36 hrs to watch it this year. I miss the montages they used to make back in Billy Crystal's day.

I only saw a bunch of discourse about how either Barbie was robbed or Barbie wasn't robbed because it didn't deserve any nominations in the first place.

I haven’t watched since about 2000 or so. I did hear something about them having their best ratings in years but that it was still a pretty low number and most viewers just watch the red carpet stuff. It’s been at least 10 years since I’ve heard any talk around the office about the Oscars with the exception of the Will Smith slap (that was the Oscars, wasn’t it?). And everyone just watched the clips and read news about it, it’s not like anyone saw it as it happened.

tl;dr it would be surprising to find anyone that watched because even in fandom and media-centric circles they just aren’t worth the time.

I don't watch award shows at all, just hear about things happening through osmosis. But now that you mention it, I literally haven't heard anything about this year's Oscars except one headline about a dog that was supposed to be in the audience but maybe wasn't.

I'm pretty anti awards show, which let me tell you wins me a lot of friends in fandom spaces! (So I generally don't mention it. No reason to yuck someone else's yum, afterall.) But my friend watched it and had a lot to say about the wardrobe choices. They get very excited by celebrity fashion. But yeah, other than a few friends getting excited I really haven't heard much about it.

LOL, I have not watched the full show since the year Jon Stewart hosted. Not worth my time! This year, I was at a get-together with friends and the host turned on the TV in the background. We were half paying attention until "I'm Just Ken" came on, then we dropped everything to run to the TV and ended up watching the rest of the show.

I actually saw half the Best Pic nominees this year, so was more in touch than usual.

The only reason I know the Oscars even happened was because of MacDoesIt's video covering the fashion for the Oscars - and even he admitted that he didn't watch it. He just looked over photos of the celebs at the show.

Yeah, I always watch the Oscars? I don't really have anything to say or secrets to make about it, though. Plenty of us were live-tweeting commentary about it during the broadcast.

Yeah TBH somewhere in the 2010s I just stopped caring about award shows. When I was super into them, I filled out Oscar predictions and I tended to guess the winners way better than my friends.
Granted, I was the only one who read entire credits to a film and read Entertainment Weekly religiously.

I work nights and was sleeping when they aired my time, lol. That said, last year when I woke up and got on Tumblr, I saw a bunch of posts about the Oscars and the “Everything Everywhere All At Once” sweep. This year I really had to hunt through the interwebs to find the winners list.

Movie got me back into Dune. Actually rewatching miniseries this weekend.

Still loving Dungeons and Dragons. And Tolkien is always my fandom.

Baldur's Gate 3 atm. I flit between looking at art on tumblr and twitter while chatting to some other people playing it on discord. I'm not into fic for this fandom as it's nearly all OC/companion stuff which I don't jive with reading-wise, but I love seeing art of people's Tav's and their chosen LI, and art of the companions in general.

There's some fans I... steer clear of, but for the most part I'm able to skip past any drama and just enjoy the chill side of the fandom.

Warhammer 40k and Baldur's Gate 3 and tumblr for both (altho I'm active on DW so if anyone is a fan of either of those things and are also active on DW, we should be friends!).

I'm still on my Markiplier egos brainrot. Although I've been watching a few lore videos for the adventure stories, I've also still been deep diving on the RPF drama from 2016 on Tumblr because I'm nosy and its fascinating to me.

Plus I've been creating fanworks on Tumblr and AO3, as well as going onto pinterest for all my Markiplier lockscreens & old fanarts.

Also I've been enjoying the new Welcome Home arg update :'D

I am caught up on Solo Leveling and Mashle season 2 so I need something else lol.

Pretty good with any genre outside of straight shoujo (need some sort of action) unless it's stuff like Sailor Moon etc with the action mixed into the shoujo.

It's nearly 5AM where I live and I don't know what I'm going to do. The US is steadily getting worse for queer people, but especially trans people, and as a disabled enby married to a trans man (both of us AFAB), it's becoming quite clear that if shit hits the fan we have nowhere to run to. We're steadily inching closer to transness being illegal, and tearing down the government dooms me and my husband anyway because we're disabled and have no savings as a result of only being able to live off a pittance.

We're only a few hours from the Canadian border, but I doubt they'll take two disabled people as refugees is things get bad--we can provide nothing to anyone. I'm terrified and near tears and thinking of ending it all if things keep getting worse, because what's the point? I'd rather die on my terms than in the Holocaust 2.0 the Republicans want. At least then I can ensure I'll suffer as little as possible.
