I don't really understand this for most vids, but there are definitely people who speed up their videos so they are speaking like they are on crack and I either skip them or have to slow their videos down. Not so much because I can't follow, but because it just hits me in a really weird way and makes me twitch to see people talking/being faster than life by just a tiny margin. Messes with my brain.

Oddly enough, I don't have that problem if it's me that is opting to speed up the playback.

I just don't think I could stand that any more than I can stand speeded up vids. It's so obviously not 'the norm' as in - not how people talk and move - that the distraction and irritation of that would be too much.

There are so many amazing or badass or just plain interesting women in history and I am continually angry that there aren't a million movies about them and instead we get ten thousand batmans and the same damn war stories over and over. So yes, I am with you.

Though the whole thing with the Norman Invasion always makes me smile. Because Harold Godwinson has just kicked Harold Hadrada's ass being like, "Hell yeah! No more threats to the Anglo-Saxons anymore!" only to receive word of William of Normandy landing on his shores. I imagine Harold Godwinson was just like, "Freakin' A!"

This is a strange case where something that I know is an opinion just sounds like a bizarre incorrect statement. Even if you don't like the book, I don't know how you could get "driest narrative voice" from it. Annoying narrative voice? Sure, that's valid. Dry? I can't see it.

Veering in the direction of another secret here incidentally, this series is the only one where I like listening to the audiobooks more than reading the text version. The books aren't written specifically to be read aloud, but they feel like they are.

That makes sense.
I just can't do audio books; I don't have any long, daily drives, and if I'm doing something in the house like chores or whatever, listening to something I need to pay attention to isn't going to happen. I get distracted, it's noisy, there's the cat, there's someone calling me, whatever.
But yeah - they're not written to be read aloud, really, and I'd imagine it really shows sometimes.
