LOL idefc how strongly I disagree, I'm glad to see a secret that's not about Reid/MGG for once

And the Trek fangirls all over this thread are bringing the lulz

I'm in the same boat. And it goes for Winry, too.

I just don't like the direction Arakawa took with either of their characters.

but... Atia RULES!

<3 Rome :D

[identity profile] matitablu.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I think Burton is sometimes overrated and I don't think chocolate Factory was his best work, but I certainly enjoyed it.

(Anonymous) 2010-02-05 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Same. But to utter such things in fandom is pretty much blasphemy.

But really, when you get down to it, an uncut cock looks a lot like a cut one when hard.

Yup!

Unless the characters are docking or the writer is describing the cocks in very intricate detail, then I'm not sure why foreskins would be specifically mentioned.

This is like failing to specifically mention areolae in a fic where breasts are referenced. Not mentioning it doesn't mean it isn't there!

Yeah, it isn't something like colour or length of hair, height or exact bone/muscle structure or even skin colour if we ever get a non-white Doctor. It's a part of your body's anatomy just as much as an eyelid or fingernail. And you don't see him regenerating without those.

And also the guy is a Time Lord and I've no idea why they'd want to make cut the norm there. They're Time Lords. They're more likely to see it as a quirky trait of some backwards cultures or something. Though that's how they see mostly everything so that's not saying much.

Honestly, if you're going to draw a picture of a naked character look into where he comes from in case there are any traditions that would show on a naked shot and not a clothed one. And if it's an alien or an elf or something, look into the traditions of the author and what they seemed to do for the culture they invented and go with that. Tolkien was English - so I assume he went with British norms. Especially as he was trying to do the entire 'lets give Britain a myth of her own that isn't stolen' thing alongside the explaining of his languages.

Though that's now making me wonder about Vulcans. Cause American creator, but they're really very logical so they'd need a logical reason to do it. Though they're also rather traditional so could maybe go either way with them.

ETA: That's assuming a Vulcan penis looks remotely like a human penis. Or that you aren't going the route of traditional Kirk/Spock porn and making the Vulcan penis self lubricating/rigged/double/whatever other odd thing you can think of.

I can relate to wanting plush for shows/movies/games that have none! So I just started making my own a few years back...haven't stopped since. ^_^

You can always find a custom plush artist to make you a really awesome plush of whatever you want, some of them are good enough to pass as official merch, with tags and everything.

"I didn't like the Alice books because I found them creepy and horribly unfunny in a nasty, plonking, Victorian way. Oh, here's Mr Christmas Pudding On Legs, hohohoho, here's a Caterpillar Smoking A Pipe, hohohoho. When I was a kid the books created in me about the same revulsion as you get when, aged seven, you're invited to kiss your great-grandmother."

I really agree with him about the Victorian creepiness part. I wonder why so much Victorian imagery seems creepy by today's standards...

+1

(Anonymous) 2010-02-05 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
I don't see it.

Same here. :(

Why is this making me laugh so hard. I think I'm immature. XD

[identity profile] threnody.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like it, either. My brain cannot wrap itself around the story- way, way too trippy. Though that doesn't stop me from wishing I could see Judy Dench as the Queen of Hearts. (what?)

[identity profile] ms-erupt.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I don't argue should be considered the blueprint or that there is one way to play any character or characters with similar characteristics. It would be rather boring to watch TV/film if that were the case! I've encountered a number of reserved characters in media, and for the most part they don't come off as wooden and robotic to me as this character does. So, I wonder if it's the character or if it's the actor. I suppose it's a matter of opinion really. In any case, Hotch is slowly starting to grow on me despite. Damn him.

[identity profile] miakun.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
No that really bugs me, because of what it represents. Hermione yelled at Ron in that scene and it was glorious -- it wasn't her dating Krum to make him jealous, it was Hermione going, "Hey, I'm not going to wait around forever, I am going to be a strong confident woman and if Ron Weasley wants to keep being an idiot, let him!" and I LOVED that about her and about them. It felt more real to me. The weeping stuff -- ugh.

I really disliked a lot of things about that movie, but it's one of my favorite books too (Chamber is my favorite and Goblet is second).

[identity profile] matitablu.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever anon: your ex's doucheness (is that even a word) doesn't overshadow Cohen's awesomeness.

Aaaand now I have Hey, That's No Way To Say Goodbye playing in my head.

[identity profile] eastcoastfilly.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Can't draw, can't make fancy icons, still working up the courage to write anything. Hell, I can't even play the damn games. I get by on YouTube, all the while cursing my crappy laptop and lack of funds, gawking at art and fic while I'm waiting for them to load.

It's all cool. What are they gonna do, hack into our computers and kick us off the internet?

By the way, I love the picture you used, it's one of my favorites!

(Anonymous) 2010-02-05 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
I can't be bothered to log in, does [livejournal.com profile] wretchedfiction have any of that pairing or no?

(only tangentially related: FUCK Jerome is sexy.)

[identity profile] threnody.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
*shrug* I liked it okay. I've never read the book, though- tried, but it just didn't 'click'. Which is sad, because I'd love to read it.

Pepperoni & cheese pizza.

Ikr? This secret confuses me.

(Anonymous) 2010-02-05 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Damn, I've been caught. :) Guess I should try harder next time.

(What can I say? Star Trek fandom, you're so FUN.)

[identity profile] miss-snarky.livejournal.com 2010-02-05 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
My hair did the same thing. Insane when I was 11 and 12, then calmed... I don't see what the fuss is.
