you see, i'm the exact opposite! I want people to ship my characters, and to want them be with someone different then who they end up with. And I want people to put m/m characters who are straight together because it's fun. I had so much fun doing it with fandoms i like, i would want people to have fun with my creations and recreate them how they want.
But really, I would just be happy with what ever fans I got. If i could just reach one person with my writing i think they would be enough.

I used to belong to a health club that was open 24 hours and it had an attached pool area that was open all hours; in fact, one of my favorite things to do for the two months I was unemployed was to go over at 2 in the morning and sit in the hot tub next to the pool with a book.

(actually I would choose Neville over Ron in a heartbeat, but Hermione has had much more of a relationship with Ron than Neville)

I have no idea, but I spent the first two episodes lambasting the plot on twitter (to the point where I got told to write my own mystery novel). I mean, c'mooon, the taxi thing was dead obvious. I mean, I recognised straight away that taxis were going to be important (there were too many of them filmed) and as soon as Sherlock did that monologue about people blending in in crowds and whatever, it just cemented it for me. The second was too muddled to get any info out of - the only 'clue' was the cypher, and, again, I knew automatically that it was some sorta Asian writing and probably numbers at that.

Still have to watch the third episode. And actually, uhhh, read the books. How is it that, out of all the literature from that time period I've read, Sherlock Holmes isn't one of them?

Ah well. I've decided to watch for the characters being awesome instead of the plot. As per usual, really.

2. Complete lack of understanding of human sexual development.

3. Very black and white worldview with very little complexity ("be decent!" "Everyone knows this is how it should be, only BAD PEOPLE think differently!")

4. Jealous possessiveness of the creative process.

5. Overinflated sense of self-importance.

6. Inability to laugh at oneself.

7. Homophobia and slut-shaming.



Now, of course good writers can have all sorts of offensive personal flaws - some are downright hateful and are still good at what they do. But this particular set of flaws...sounds like it's going to lead to a pretty simplistic and moralistic, therefore boring and reader-intelligence-insulting book. And it won't even have any hot sex scenes to skip to.

So I don't think you really need to worry about those dirty, dirty fans making the dirty, dirty porn. Even Stephenie Meyer managed to throw the readers some bones.

I totally agree with this comment. Unfortunately, Moffat has expressed a clear preference for constant excitement over character development**. This is just me theorizing, but I imagine he's heavily influenced by his young sons, and wants to write the sort of thing they want to see, which is a whole lot of flash-bang and not too much angst.

**The exact quote: "There’s no need for character development, or chat, it’s straight into: ‘There’s something wrong here, let’s look into this deep, dark hole.’" The interview is from 2004, though, so we can hope his views have adjusted. Just a bit, maybe?

I was in a production of the Scottish play once. Our guy had some mad chemistry with several guys, but I always thought Mac had a bit of a tragic crush on Duncan.

Five IS better than four.

Horatio and Ophelia don't interact that much, and you'd get more support in the lit crowd for Ophelia having it off with Laertes (yeah, no, I know, I'm not saying it's not messed up). Buuut... I could see a Horatio/Hamlet/Ophelia three way thing goin' on. And though they don't so much interact in the play, it doesn't mean they don't know each other and we just don't see them because during the course of the play they haven't got much to say to each other and then she goes crazy.

I see that threesome happening regardless of anybody's gender. *shrug*

I've played a man in Shakespeare once when we were short on fellas and long on women. I was a nameless Lord, but I wasn't the only chick-playing-a-dude... it was for the Scottish play. All three murderers were played by young women, the first of which was exceedingly... *developed*. My friend told me afterward that the best part of the show was when the busty girl said 'We are men, my liege!'

lol, I feel a bit guilty for how much I hope Amy and Rory leave at the end of s6. It's not that I don't like them, because I do, but I'm very used to the fresh-face aspect of New Who and I think two seasons with the same principle cast is enough and come s7 it would be nice to see some new companions. Amy and Rory can cameo like the others did, but I'd like a new primary companion plz. Plus, the rotating cast creates suspense in the finales -- it was hard for me to get worked up during The Big Bang when I knew that neither Matt nor Karen were leaving, whereas in every previous finale there was that sense of "OMG how will they write out ___?? WHAT WILL HAPPEN???" It doesn't have to be a sad ending, I just have to be worried that something could happen to the characters. And I would really like to see how Eleven a) deals with the Ponds leaving and b) interacts with a new companion/new companions.
