OP says: You understand my pain. T___T
Actually, after having read the director's twitter on 5D's, it all makes much more sense. That man is hilarious. "So then we wanted a giant fist to come down and crush the opposing monster... like the giant foot from Monthy Python!" T____T

OH MY GOSH OLIVE THE OTHER REINDEER. <333 There needs to be more love for this movie. None of my friends know it exists.

HOWEVER. I love Tangled too. I could kinda see the we're-actually-big-softies number coming, but I did find it entertaining (may have choked on my soda a little at the huge guy with the little unicorns). By far not the funniest part in the entire movie, though. In my opinion.

It was a game of cold chicken or whatever it's called, isn't it?

This is true, but it doesn't mean that falling for one's best friend is any less common.

However, "he or she" usually indicates that the person is either male or female, but this might not be so - they might identify as being neither, or both, which is why people usually use "they" or "ze/sie/ve/e" in order to allow for the person possibly being outside of the "male/female" binary.

THIS. Of course, I'm still trying to figure out why anyone sympathizes with Jonathan. From his first appearance, lugging the sniper rifle up to the tower, through his manipulating reality, through his complicity in Evil Warren's schemes, I thought he was a detesable choad.

[identity profile] kelmendi.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't personally sympathize with Jonathan, but I think the people who do, do because he spent the first three-ish seasons being the-nameless-innocent bystander who kept getting attacked and menaced. And after that... the sniper rifle and the reality manipulation were about hating himself, and then he got betrayed by Warren and murdered, so people who want to excuse him for being a villanous little twerp don't have to fanwank too hard to make him a victim.

Personally, I just found him wet. Like a damp kleenex.

Such a great film! And the soundtrack is amazing to listen while high :)

[identity profile] no-one-specific.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen very many of his movies, but he did a good job, even if he was a bit sappy at parts... Still loved it.

Hahaha! +1 And now I'm shipping him with a date!

[identity profile] no-one-specific.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, now I want to read that one! That sounds so good!

[identity profile] captainprowler.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I too remember reading that book in sixth grade! The only reason I still remember it is because the simulation was just called "The Game", and now whenever I lose the game (like right now) I would think of it.

Re: anon, risking my neck, it looks like...

[identity profile] myonlylight.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh.

Huh.

I can honestly say that I've never given his character this much thought before. I'll probably never sympathize with him, but... I'm going to have to go back and rewatch his episodes.

Thanks for giving me something to think about, OP.

Re: I'm as surprised as the OP-

[identity profile] myonlylight.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
...jesus. You also have given me more to think about.

I can't speak for other fans, but I've honestly never given him this much thought before. My first reaction to him, through April, was "ewwww" and just went downhill from there. So, yeah, I think I'm going to pull out my DVDs and rewatch his episodes. I don't see myself liking him, really, which is fine because that's not really the point of his character, but I think I'll be able to react to him with more than a heavy sense of disgust now.

So, thanks to you as well, anon.

[identity profile] myonlylight.livejournal.com 2011-04-08 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I need to take a moment to tell you that I really, really like your comments. I'm reading threads for secrets I don't even care about just for your comments.

So. Um. Thank you.

That was my favorite too! Especially since I live near where it was set. When I was our hiking I used to pretend to be her (lol I was such a dork) I think her name was Caty or something like that, and the Indians called her 'Snow Bird'

Dude, don't fucking worry if it's supposed to be for younger readers. I still read "The Phantom Tollbooth" and would put it on my all time favorite book list in a nanosecond (along with more "adult" books). Plus, I still check out kid's/YA books to read for fun.

Enjoy that book/series if you find it to really connect with you emotionally. :)

(Anonymous) 2011-04-08 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yup. Same here.

(Anonymous) 2011-04-08 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
No offense, but that sounds a lot like "disgruntled Tennant fangirl, angry that this season was different".

If your only experience with DW was the new show and all of your enthusiasm was linked to this one actor out of eleven, who played the doctor, you can't really call yourself a fan of the show. You were a fan of the actor.

DW was always more than just David Tennant, and I would be more than happy if his rapid fangirls would finally leave the fandom all together.

(Anonymous) 2011-04-08 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
The thing with fandom, isn't so much that it lies, it's just that fandom tends to forget that there are multiple kinds of and expressions of love, and that best friends tend to be a different kind of love than lovers. Sure, two people can love each other deeply, but have no sexual attraction to one another. (Hell, I'm willing to bet that's what Fry and Laurie have) Fandom seems to think that because two people love each other deeply, with their whole heart, with no interest in it become a romantic relationship.

...Fandom seems to think that love=sex, when love and sex are two completely different things. (I blame the fact that much of America is the same way, saying that you should only have sex if you love somebody, and that sex is the ultimate declaration of love, and much of fandom is american).
