except that the vast majority of the time when people say things like that, it's in response to people being assholish, self-righteous and judgmental, like "how DARE you like this thing that I don't!"

it's rude not to leave trigger warnings or go around talking about things that can obviously squick people in inappropriate places, but I rarely see that and much more often see people just complaining about how awful the people who like X are.

I'm so surprised you are getting so much negative feedback here, because I agree with this secret 120%. As long as you're not saying "YOU are horrible for liking this kink", you have every right to say "I find this kink absolutely disgusting". It's not like you're judging PEOPLE (except insofar as everyone can be judged by the stuff they like, but I mean, that's kind of difficult to avoid whenever you express any opinion) and I think people are too happy to play the victim and be like 'don't judge me you asshole' when you're just... expressing a perfectly non-irrational opinion? Idk.

Of course the people who have issues should not be censored. But the point is that whatever issues they may have are fairly irrelevant because no one is forcing them to deal with other people's kinks. If you have issues with rape fic, don't read rape fic. Just ignore it when it pops up on comms. Don't go around telling people that you have issues with it. People are told to STFU about their issues because they have no reason to mention their issues in the first place. Somebody writes rape fic. You don't like rape fic. The smart thing is to go and ignore the rape fic, instead of starting to tell people why you have a problem with rape fic and then be outraged that people are annoyed by your whining.
(This is a very general, hypothetical 'you', I don't mean you personally, I have no idea what you have or do not have issues with. :))

I'm glad for you, OP. I'm 24 and still petrified of driving, and I love Yu-Gi-Oh! I've met the most amazing people of all ages through fandom. Many of whom I've been friends with for years.

Try not to think of age as a hindrance. After all, it's just the year you were born. Think of your fandom as something wonderful that brings people together despite age (or religion or where they live or what they do for a living, etc.).

Fandom can bring the most unlikely people together.

Yeah, it can get pretty nasty on both sides. People who don't warn are jerks, just like people who knowingly go read things they know will trigger them and then complain about it are stupid. As well, there's a difference between "I hate XXX" versus "I hate everyone who likes XXX." But people saying the former tend to get jumped on since people assume they're saying the latter. I think OP's thing is that both sides should be allowed to speak and neither one should get away with trying to force the other to shut up.

I'm pretty sure it's the puppy look (and, yes, of course the fact that he's built like a god). I know lots of straight women who love nothing more than cute, sweet-looking guys with big dark eyes and fluffy hair, who look like they can do no wrong, and Jared hits all those buttons. Not my type, but I definitely get it.

I just started watching this show because it was up on Netflix. I didn't know anyone had ever heard of it. I'm at the beginning of season 2. For the most part I really liked season 1, and season 2 is pretty good, even though I don't like it as much yet.
