Really irritated at the massive 3-D hate which has sprung up recently by film purists.

I have a friend who claims she can't see 3-D movies, and I sympathize, but she acts like because she can't enjoy it, it simply shouldn't be shown. It's ridiculous.

I apologize. My shit-giving quota got filled a long long time ago and I find myself simply having no more shits to give. In fact, I accidentally went over my monthly budget by a whole lot a while back and am now in negative shits. When it comes to anime art, I believe the Japanese (due to culture and communication) have more of a slight advantage over Western anime artists. I think there is a tendency in Western art to pick and choose styles from anime and create it from there. However, there are exceptions to these generalizations. And I don't find it to be a huge difference.

Honestly though, I value both Japanese and Western art. It's insulting to think that there are more and "better" anime artists in Japan. DA is not anime centered like pixiv is. So it's not a good comparison, at all. Hell, DA is a fucking cesspit if you ask anyone who takes art seriously. And I've seen some pretty crappy art on pixiv, so ymmv there as well.

Also, you have to keep in mind fandom has a very skewed and limited perspective when it comes to "good" art. But as a fellow artist to you OP, you shouldn't be drawing for popularity in fandom. You should be doing it for your own enjoyment. You'll find it more rewarding, imo.

Exactly. There's Gateworld, which is fine, but that's not the fandom that I seek. I seek and, as you say, find, all kinds of good stuff out there, the fandom seems alive and well and and producing from the heart of each fan. New writers are showing up all the time, only recently Candlebeck started writing SGA, much to my delight and pleasure.

See this is what I'm saying. You're the bonus I was talking about earlier.

I have no doubt Seth does throw stuff in the show to intentionally offend people, but it would be aimed at a certain group of people.

For example: almost as soon as Seth found out Stewie was the most popular character in the show, he turned him gay. If you're a fan of Seth and follow him like I do, then I think it's obvious that that speaks volumes of his humour (and also, obviously, the humour of the show). People hate homosexuals. They actually hate gay people. Seth finds that fucking ridiculous, disgusting, just sad, and he's all for gay rights, so now we have Family Guy's most popular character homosexual. I wish I could really dig into the humour and break it down so you can see Seth isn't the douche every female on LJ practically wants him to be, but it's really not something you can put into words.

Or maybe you can and I just need to expand my vocabulary.
