I'm honestly not a fan of 3D for most films. If the special effects are the main point - like Tron: Legacy, for instance - it's cool, but otherwise I tend to find it takes me out of the story (though I suspect it doesn't quite look the way it's supposed to for me). I realise I'm in the minority - I know lots of people find 3D a more immersive/entertaining experience. I'm glad there's the option to see films in 2D, though, because quite apart from anything else, I'm too cheap to watch stuff in 3D I'd enjoy at least as much in 2D :)

I know the feeling, anon. It's one of the things that kept me out of Star Trek fandom. Chances are, though, if you're worried about it, you're a lot better than you think. And having a friend look over your stuff never hurts.

...nor doth it sleep. I started reading fan fic and watching vids and the show like crazy after the show was over, precisely because I wanted what I did and involved myself in to be about the characters and their stories, rather than any (ANY) engagement with the actors or the production of it (that is, waiting for the next episode....wondering whether it would suck and so on). Not that I mind actors and whatnot, I'm very grateful to them for their involvement, and bringing the characters to life. But after Supernatural, and all (ALL) the HOOPLA about Jensen and Jared, I'm a little tired of the whole "IT's ALIVE" feeling to it, and can't wait for Supernatural to be over. But I'm falling in love with SGA more every day and I like that the fandom is mostly about the show, the characters, the stories, the fan fic, vids, drawings, and other fannish works. It's about the fans and fandom, right about now, and not being behind or in front of any velvet rope because you either do or do not have any connection with the actors.

I have your friend's exact reaction to 3D movies, but I've at least seen a few. (And was permanently scarred as a child by Shark Boy and Lava Girl, but that may have been for other reasons.)

I have found far more quality art on Pixiv in my fandom as opposed to DA. On Pixiv, there are more quality artists as opposed to DA which only has the same few over and over.

So, yes, I will fangirl the Japanese artists and say they're better. There are more of them. Sorry it turned out like that. If there were more western fans who were good, I'd be fangirling them. But there aren't.
