Poor Bennett! I'd been spoiled so I knew it was coming but it still broke my heart.

But in response to the second half of the secret, I loved what they did with Topher. It was a perfect, painful redemptive arc.

I felt bad for what happened to Bennett, but I kinda shipped Adelle and Topher like it was my job, especially after Epitaph One , so, um, yeah. It was shocking but not devastating.

Also, as much as it hurts (nooo Topher why did you do thaaaat ; ;), I really enjoyed the changes his character went through.

I was way more upset about Paul being killed. I shipped Paul/Echo pretty hard.

Paul/Echo was a way fucked up relationship. And that bit where Echo put Paul in her head after he died... creepy as fuck.

Not to sound condescending, but how did you not see it coming? Are you new to Joss Whedon shows? He never allows happy/stable couples to remain intact. Ever. Especially if they're dorkly-endearing secondary characters. Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Dr. Horrible, Dollhouse -- all the happy relationships, without exception, ended in death or doom.

Right before "Getting Closer" aired I told my friend who was also a fan, "yeah, she's gonna bite it. It's Joss and that's Summer Glau, and he didn't get a chance to kill her off the first go-round." I don't always like being right. :(
