If you're going to sit there and pretend that there isn't a very real problem of hypersexuals speaking over aces and attempting to equate the two - particularly in the last couple of months - I have nothing more to say to you.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
You don't know a thing about discrimination. When you've been ridiculed by an entire school for daring to come out as a hypersexual dragon-kin, then maybe you can come crying to me.

I can't deal with this shit right now, I'm out.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
I can't

Hypersexuality is just giving an unnecessary label to the sexual majority and trying to compare it to asexuality that suffers actual discrimination. You have sexual privilege and the repeated attempts of hypersexuals to ignore this is disgusting.

(frozen comment)

Wow. WOW.

Same anon as below, and I cannot believe I'm seeing this from a fellow ace.

Un-fucking-believable.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
My label is unnecessary? For you information, I didn't know who or what I was until I heard of hypersexuality. I spent every day wondering why I felt like I HAD to masturbate to the covers of my high fantasy novels. I would've given anything to be asexual when I was a teenager. You have no idea what it's like for a hypersexual aromantic in a world where everyone has or wants a significant other.

Fuck you.

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like somebody is jealous and needs to get laid.

Hypersexuals can help!

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Do you know how offensive and triggering it is to tell an ace "they need to get laid"?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
IAWTC

I am so sick of hypersexuals trying to take over ace spaces

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
How is that fair? Prejudice isn't okay in any circumstances. We're all sexual minorities, and many of the problems I face are similar to asexual problems, eg, being excluded from queer spaces, having to face the inevitable coming-out process (especially with religious parents who don't believe in sex before marriage - I know someone who was disowned because of it! Well, he was also gay, but I'm pretty sure it was the needing sex before marriage part that his parents hated.)

By excluding us from your spaces, you're perpetuating hate.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
lol try telling that to people in other queer spaces or racial spaces or any space that is meant to be SAFE for them so that they don't have to deal with shit like THIS 24/7

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
There's nothing wrong with accepting hypersexuals into our conversations and spaces. We should stand with ALL people with non-normative sex drives and libidos, so why, in your opinion, aren't hypersexuals allowed? Do you think we should stop equating asexuality with anyone who experiences any sexual attraction? Because what about demisexuals, then? Or gray-aces? Do you get angry when demisexuals ~speak over~ asexuals, too? Or do you only reserve that hypersexuals?

You're being really unfair and yes, oppressive, here, and frankly I'm ashamed to see another asexual saying this.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT

but uh, isn't hypersexuality the exact opposite of asexuality? So... shouldn't they not be included?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
I don't want to speak for hypersexuals because I'm not one and therefore can't understand their struggles, but imo, places like AVEN should be for anyone outside of the norm w/r/t sex-drives, libido, amount of sexual attraction, etc. Obviously hypersexuals and asexuals have much different struggles and are perceived much differently in a sexual-normative society, but it would be downright unfair of us to reject them completely when they deal with the same sexual-normative society that we do. Hope that helps.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, firstly, "Hope that helps" is a really condescending way to end your comment.

Secondly, this is just ridiculous. Maybe I could understand if you were talking about sexual aromantics but hypersexuals are the complete opposite of asexuals. It's ridiculous to say they should be included under our umbrella.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
DA

Why is it ridiculous? That's like saying it would be ridiculous for people within the asexual spectrum to be included under the queer umbrella :/

Discrimination doesn't sit right with me, no matter who's perpetuating it.

Hypersexuality can be caused by illnesses and is not necessarily a long-term thing. Hypersexuals are perfectly capable of being asexual. Hypersexuality can refer to a physical need for sex, even if they experience no sexual attraction.

Are. You. Serious.

We are ALL trying to deal with a sexual-normative society. Both hypersexuals and asexuals are discriminated against because we don't match up with the sexual norm, opposites or not, we both struggle to live in this world and because of that, we should try harder to help each other out.

And it's really disgusting to see places that are supposed to be safe for the non-sexual-normative be actively hostile towards others because ~they aren't like us~. How can we talk about inclusiveness and acceptance if we're going to be this hypocritical when it comes to hypersexuals?

um, no. hypersexuals don't belong in ace spaces, end of story. maybe as allies but that's IT. if they're hetero hypersexuals then they can fuck off and if they're queer hypersexuals then they belong to lgbt spaces, not ace ones. seriously what he fuck is so hard about this.

Thank you. I know there are some reasonable asexual people who welcome EVERYONE of a sexual minority, but sometimes it's easy to forget :)

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I can't believe that there's an ace who's so deliberately obtuse. Demis and grey-aces are on the asexual spectrum, they're oppressed as the same way we are. Hypersexuals are barely discriminated against in this hypersexualised society of ours and besides that any problems they might have are so removed from ours there's no point in having them in ace spaces.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
But hypersexuals CAN BE asexual.

And are you serious that hypersexuals aren't discriminated against? Hypersexual women? Excuse me?

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
Asexual hypersexuals are asexuals. I'm talking about hyperromantic hypersexuals

Yeah, hypersexuals can sometimes be discriminated against but it's not any sort of oppression that renders them comparable to aces. Discrimination against hypersexual women is rooted in misogyny not in her hypersexuality.

Exactly! I have a hypersexual ace friend who physically needs sex all the time, but she isn't attracted to anyone. Believe me, it sucks to be her.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
We shouldn't just get to kick people out of the club however we want, because that goes against our core values of acceptance.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-03-08 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh fuck you, we have be accepting and have to accept privileged people pushing in to our safe spaces. If only those uppity asexuals would shut up and let us sexually privileged hypersexuals in to the club.
