when i read anon comments and replies, i always wonder why comments like YOURS (attacking, childish, snooty comments like yours) choose to target anon's like the one you did? it would make more sense if you attacked EVERY negative comment in this thread rather than just pick a random one, come in and spew 'wha wha butthurt' and then exit stage left

i just followed them because they followed me, and we had some similar interests. didn't really think it through too much.
It did seem pretty serious, but they haven't mentioned it again, so I think it must have turned out.. well, not horribly. I don't really want to inquire about it though, because I feel like they'd just tell me to piss off or would say they weren't being serious about it. =\

We never had to read this for school (Brave New World, how I loathe thee...), so I don't understand the plural a/um thing, and my head is @_@ing trying to make it make sense...

I literally don't understand the hate that the Glee music gets. To me, the WORST music that could possibly exist is out of tune and off the beat. If something's out of tune, it could be the most soulful and wonderful lyrics ever written, I WOULD STILL THINK IT'S CRAPPY. There's a basic level of musicality that, you know, MUSIC is supposed to have. Yes, the Glee songs aren't originals and usually aren't better than the originals. Covers aren't inherently terrible - they're just different. I have both the originals and the Glee covers of a lot of songs, and listen to both on different days. IT'S POSSIBLE TO LIKE SOMETHING POPULAR AND NOT BE MAINSTREAM, YOU GUYS.

You make perfect sense, and I definitely agree. How beautiful she is or is not should not come up a discussion about her performance. That would make me think someone's got a personal agenda.

We might use the word ugly in different ways. Ugly is harsh, and reserved for when I have additional negative feelings about the person, aside from looks (say, I find them painful on the eyes and their opinions to be offensive). Not finding someone pretty is a term I'm more likely to use if I respect the person, or don't have feelings either way. I think that's the best way I can describe. I'd use 'ugly' to help fuel hate. 'Not my type' is more neutral.

There's no real right for me to be mean about her (or anyone's) looks. It's just that when you dislike someone, you'll pick them apart any little way you can. They're less likely to get a pass on things you'd let slide for someone you did like. For me, personally, I think my hate is more from Twilight being everywhere, so it's hard to avoid (when I'm trying to stay respectfully away from it), and then the Snow White movie also starring her & looking so romance oriented (guess I should've expected it). Being the forefront of those kinda gives her the brunt of my already-in-place irritation.

So, it's all well and good to discuss your favorite songs in musicals and whatnot, or main title themes that play during credits, but how about specific non-lyrical tracks from the background musical scores for various movies and TV shows, especially ones that aren't musicals?

I'm thinking of John Williams at the moment (especially "Luke and Leia" and "Han Solo and the Princess") but you needn't cite something THAT prestigious. Just tracks that are really beautiful but which no one pays attention to because they're background music.

I also have a huge weakness for "Madman with a Box" and "Sad Man with a Box" from Doctor Who, "They Called It" from The Avengers, "Why So Serious?" from The Dark Knight and "I'm Lost" from Lilo and Stitch, to name a few.

I don't see anything creepy about that at all. You might pleasantly surprise someone who wasn't even aware fanfic for your fandom existed. Even if there aren't many other writers or readers, I don't think there's anything to be ashamed of. You like what you like, and just because there isn't much of a fandom doesn't mean other people don't like it too.
