That link looks purple visited on my browser. I was going all, "man, I wonder where on the internet I've been. Diet poison sure hates it I hope it's not one of my bookmarks."

And it was. Under my section devoted to sj-isms and stereotypes haha.

I'm still stupid surprised when I meet people irl who genuinely hold tjose kind of thoughts. I expect unaccountable assholery online most of the time, but even then if I get a feeling the other party really is so far up their ass on maintaining a belief in stupidity, I just get so disappointed.

On pronouns, for me, I don't mind someone making assumptions about which to use, although the connected assumptions that follow about me kinda irk me.

Where?

I mean, OP were reffering to fans in general in their secret.

Fans who write slash.

Most of those are women.

Nonono Hindus are not vegetarians, they eat chicken and fish and pork! A disproportionate number of them, say, half a billion, live in India are are surviving on $1USD/day. If they are priviledged, I must be King of the World~!

It couldn't possibly have depressed me more than the fairytale about The Steadfast Tin Soldier that I've known since childhood, so why not.

Don't fall victim to the echo chamber effect! If OP asked if people every sent case earnest, non-trolly secrets, I bet your conclusion'll be the opposite!

The first time I heard "guerrilla soldier" in a news report I was horrified and fascinated. I kept watching to see if they would show the trained gorilla soldiers. It slowly started dawning on me that it must be a nickname or something but I didn't want to believe I wouldn't get to see gorillas in fatigues so i watched the entire program just in case.

I did have the good sense, later, to be grateful no one was making gorillas learn to use gun and shoot each other.

The people who say it's not an adaptation are right though. The Granada series and Sherlock and even the Ritchie film adapt Doyle's stories (or at least some of them). Elementary is not a different take on the canon because as the creator of the show made clear, they're not tackling the canon. He said they're only going to create their own mysteries and not do any of Doyle's stories, and the goal was to take some of the character traits of Holmes and Watson but build their own back stories and make their own characters. It's an "inspired by" series like House or The Mentalist rather than an adaptation.

I know a couple of Holmes fans who were expecting it to be an adaptation and were disappointed because they didn't realize that the characters' backgrounds, experiences, careers, they way they meet, why they live together, etc. were all going to be changed and that none of the mysteries would be based on Doyle. It's completely fair for them to be disappointed because the early PR was misleading that it would be a literary adaptation rather than an original procedural. They weren't angry about it or anything, they just didn't continue watching it. Not everybody likes police procedurals.

Yeah, Kurt was a total dick about that (and I usually like Kurt). As I recall Blaine was pissed off about that comment though, so at least that's something.

But I think it would have been so much more interesting if he actually chose Kurt over Rachel, instead of "gay now!".

But anyway, I heard a lot of backlash about it from the fans too, because you know, kissing girls is yucky...or something. Well, that's downplaying it a bit - but basically it boiled down to the fact that some fans thought that Blaine would be less of a strong example to Kurt (and young gay boys watching) if he liked girls too.

Last episode I've seen Brit was like "I haven't been seeing anyone, boy or girl" - so it seems they're sticking with it, but still not using the word.

Re: ANAL SEX THREAD

I'm a (mostly) gay girl, and I love anal, but I definitely need lube. There's just too much friction for me otherwise.

Well. Probably more than you'd think. Especially if you include the number who didn't have a partner, but did have access to any phallic objects that could be safely inserted...and those that couldn't. According to ER anecdotes I've heard, people don't need much incentive to stick things up their butts.

Snotacon. Just... Snotacon. It sounds like a pedophile with a runny nose, and I can't believe people gave such a great pairing that terrible of a name.

Also, bangthewangshipping, which is the pairing of Gary and his left hand and his right hand. Not to be confused, of course, with clapshipping, which is the Gary's right hand/Gary's left hand without Gary himself involved.

They're not a canon couple. The only canon m/m couples in CLAMP are Touya/Yukito, Kakei/Saiga, and I can't remember the other, from Clover, maybe. Poor Subaru and Seishirou didn't have a chance to be a couple.

CLAMP is full of fanservice without follow through.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Do you not have friends that have different taste than you? I just don't understand why your friend has to like a show you do or even why you think she'll care. She'll have one of three reactions, 1) "I've seen that show and I don't like it," 2) "I've seen that show and I like it" or 3) "I have no interest in watching that." Then you just go on from there. If she likes it you can talk with her about it, if she doesn't like it or has never seen it, well then talk about something else. It's not a big deal if a friend doesn't watch the same show or movie you do.

My first time was actually also surprise anal, with him slipping on my sheets and putting it in the wrong hole. It hurt and we stopped, but had a conversation about it afterwards. I proposed a "I will if you will", and he actually took me up on it.

I went to the awesome sex shop in town, picked out a strap-on (although purposely not bigger than his cock, out of fairness). That night we tried both, me giving it to him first, then me taking it. I actually enjoyed both ways, and while it was a bit awkward at first, we both seemed to get into it. I've tried pegging and anal with a couple other partners since, and I certainly like trying it on myself.

One thing I am squeamish about, though, is cleanliness on my hands. I always have to wear gloves to do prep, on myself or the guy, otherwise I get too squicked. Not helped by the fact that I have really dry and cracked cuticles, which I worry might bleed or scratch. But hey, at least I get to do the badass elastic glove snap :P

Or you could look at Zathura, Snow White and the Huntsman, Into the Wild, and The Messengers as well as Twilight and come out with the opinion that she's a mediocre actress who brings the same stoner or lackluster personality to every character.

I really don't think the average person disliking KStew is a Twilight fan who is sexually attracted to Robert Pattinson. I certainly don't fit into that category: I'm just someone who happens to have watched several movies she's in and not come out impressed. Not everyone is going off of Twilight because, holy shit, she's been in other movies.

Yep, that movie, not Repo Men or Repo! The Genetic Opera (this is the peril of talking about Repo Man online, unfortunately).

There's a lot of reasons to be fond of the movie, really.

Re: f!s, can you indulge me in a rant?

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
I get mad too, but there's also a level where I can't help but be amused by guys who always whine about how "All women want assholes" or "All women want [things I can't deliver]" or "All women want [things I'm not interested in]" etc. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy because they'll be so convinced that all women want x and not y, they won't even notice how many women around them do not fit their stereotypes. I also figure it's not my problem if they can't get a date because of this. :P

I just assumed it meant people fighting in a gorilla-like manner, like how Navy SEALs did amphibious stuff because seals are sort of amphibious.

Stuff made so much sense to me when I was little because I'd just make up a convoluted explanation and roll with it.

This is beautiful! Because lesboerotic overtones, the unintended passable cross dressing, and fans getting to feel the terror of having a fanbase.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
...if it is seriously a problem with ALL your fandoms than I am almost positive the person down below who wrote the very smart post about it "being tailored to you" is right.

It's either that, you're a deluded egotistical maniac, or you really need to start reading/watching better things. I mean, seriously, ALL of the things you read you could do it better?

They might consider you ugly, too, but so what? Even the most widely appealing beauty will find large numbers of people who consider them genuinely, non-trollingly unattractive. But Stewart does have her sincere fans (I'm one of them), so, probably, you do, too, or will.
