19. I actually really loved Gluhen! I want to get into Side B, but I lost all my links I found for it during an HD crash. At the time, there were no translations or anything on it. But If more than that exists I will have to relocate those links again. Even with just Ran and Ken- I would love it. And the one good thing I learned about Side B was that Ran didn't die at the end of Gluhen. :D!

25. I wish they would remake the anime, too. I think the manga IS leagues better. However, I rather liked Mignogna as Dark. Shame on me. :p

Weiss Side B

[identity profile] rekallthegreat.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Text translations can be found here (http://www.kindachi.com/sideb.html).

Raw scans can be found here (http://www.weisskreuzsideb.com/), under the manga section.

And the lj comm is [livejournal.com profile] _side_b but it's not too active unless [livejournal.com profile] white_cross_b posts some goodies.

19. I didn't care much for the fandom before but... that actually looks pretty interesting o_o

26. Secrets like this remind me that I have to look into that show too. I was so hyped when it was about to come out and then... I got quite ill and haven't caught up. I really think I should, especially after seeing this secret. Thank you kindly~

But why does it requires having sex with someone to know wether or not you're straight/gay/bi/whatever?

I mean seriously, can't someone figure out their sexuality without that? Because, I don't know, if you find the sight of a person of the oposite sex naked, to be disgusting, and the prospect of having sex with it even more disgusting.. And yet, find yourself getting turned on by the prospect of seeing a person of the same sex naked, and having sex with said person to be even better... I don't know, that MAY be a clear sign that you may not be into the opposite sex, no?

13. It took me AGES to finish the manga after 58. I just couldn't stand how...Gary Stu-ish Light became. One of the things that made Death Note so awesome was the clash of personalities. Even together, Near and Mello simply couldn't recreate that.

25. Dark's original Japanese voice is better (even if it means that I can't watch Bleach without giggling because Dark=Byakuya XD), but yeah, I know what you mean. (WTF WAS UP WITH THAT STATUE EPISODE?!) I love the music, though. I have both of the soundtracks on my iPod. ♥

I've actually been wondering the same thing for quite some time, so you're not alone.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of them are just "fandom lesbians." In fact, a lot of my gay friends look down on them. I can't help but wonder if these "fandom lesbians" think that, because they like yaoi and yuri, it's cool to be gay?

I'm VERY straight, and I enjoy me my femmeslash. :)

Re: 22

(Anonymous) 2007-09-10 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
):

Why can't anyone just be who they are without someone always going "YOU'RE JUST IN IT FOR THE SHOW". Being a lesbian isn't something easy and fun, and I think people understand that they shouldn't play around. But why is it only lesbians mentioned? What about the gay men of fandom?

:/

It would do you well to look up video of their live performances so you can see them bobbing their heads to the music... Read their wiki entries for everything, and watch their music videos... Do all of that.

The idea of shipping them is a "no" for me. It would destroy all fantasy notions of them that I have.

4. I hope you realise that 4chan was born from SomethingAwful.

22. While I do get tired of people saying "lololo im bi look at how cool i am now", I am equally tired of people dismissing others' sexualities just because they've never had a relationship with the gender they are attracted to. Do straight people have to justify why they're straight before they've dated a member of the opposite sex? No, they don't. I don't see why gay/bi people have to either.

9. I can dig that.

21. I'm going to echo what someone else said in the last post that this kind of thing came up and say that the modslashing here is getting pretty... weird. Are you guys actually being serious about this or is your aim just to freak them out? (Does it even freak them out anymore? With so many secrets about Case/[other user of choice] you'd think it'd be well on the way to desensitization.)

22. I had a little tirade about that a really, really long time ago on here. I can explain my views on it again, but... do you really want to hear it from someone who hasn't even taken a psychology class in high school?

23. There's obviously a reason why she friended you back, love, if she's so picky about the people she chooses to let in. Don't put yourself down over something that you assume she thinks about you. Also, there's nothing wrong with putting events in your life over fandom. This is a personal journal, you know, and you're allowed "emo" posts. I have a lot of friends who don't talk about favourite series X all that often and I don't mind at all--not everybody does. (I almost like it better that way; Theories and fanfiction are interesting, but I like to know about the person behind them too. No offense to anyone who uses their journal mostly for fandomy things, you're my buddies too.)

29. What's the point of posting fanart if the actual picture is obscured by "THIS DRAWING BELONGS TO FANARTIST ASDFGHJKL FROM DEVIANTART, SO IF YOU STEAL I'LL CUT YOU UP WHILE YOU SLEEP" in large bold red letters? I want to look at pictures, not at warnings of what will happen to me if I make sockpuppets and display it on my fake accounts' front pages (or use it in a banner/icon/etc.).

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
21. It already has reached desensitization. Now it's just something to laugh at until the crazy dies out. But in all honesty, it IS kinda creepy to imagine being written about. ._. Like wtf, they don't know us, anything we do will be 'OOC' anyway and I can't believe I'm giving this thought uhhh I'llshutupnow. *dies*

#17 and #25

[identity profile] linen-tartaruga.livejournal.com 2007-09-10 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
17) Yes! Not that I've ever really considered myself an anime!elitist, but I had felt that there was very little as far as American cartoons went that were all that interesting. There were exceptions, of course, like Invader ZIM and what-not, and I'd heard about the American!anime vs "real"!anime debate, just never gotten myself into it. Avatar made me seriously wonder why so many thought there was no such thing ever as good American!anime. >.>

25) I actually liked the DNAngel anime . . . but then I haven't read the manga yet, and I know I'll like it more than the anime when I do. And I do generally like Vic's stuff, but I understand someone people not liking him.

. . . really, mostly I'm just here to laugh about the fact that you're complaining about him making Dark sound like a fourteen year old while all the FMA fans who'd watched the subs before they released the dubs complained about him making Ed sound like a thirty year old man. Not that I'm trying to invalidate your opinion, I just think it's funny. XD

25

[identity profile] repeatvoffender.livejournal.com 2007-09-11 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
"you're complaining about him making Dark sound like a fourteen year old while all the FMA fans who'd watched the subs before they released the dubs complained about him making Ed sound like a thirty year old man"

I'm so glad I knew nothing about this until now. Although, I see the Ed thing (only in some scenes) I liked Vic as Dark, even though I didn't judge DN Angel as much as I did FMA (which had some disappointing episodes voice-wise, in my opinion) - Dark and Ed have two different voices, even if they are both played by Vic. Dark's voice is much softer, and Ed's voice really only gets like that when he's sad or guilty... Like in the very last episodes.

I could be pointlessly rambling, so um... Nevermind?

22.
I can see where you get the first part of this from, even if I don't agree.
But you really start failing at the end there. Someone can know they're gay without actually engaging in sexual activities. I'm really tired of that whole line of thought because it reminds me of the incredibly infuriating "You're not a lesbian, you just haven't found the right guy!" thing. Not to mention that heterosexual individuals never need to "prove it." Gross.

...or maybe you just wanted to tell everyone that you have sexual experience. Which is what I'm betting on. lol.

22. Sexuality is not a dichotomy, sorry to burst your bubble. And while of course it's natural to want to project your superiority in your certainty of your sexuality unto others, the fact of the matter remains that just as you can be heterosexual with no heterosexual experience, you can be homosexual or bisexual with no bisexual or homosexual experience. End of story :)

"Even though I actually am gay, and unlike them, I have the sexual experience to back my claim to my sexuality up.

Then maybe I won't feel like the only straight one I know."

So.... Is it just me, did I read that wrong - or contradiction, much?

17. I felt the same way. A quarter of my flist yammered about it incessantly, I was like "guh, wtf is up with everyone gone ga-ga for something WE made? We haven't produced any animation worth watching since Gargoyles."

Then I decided to actually watch it out of morbid curiosity.

It was the beginning of a very good end, I tell you.

Thank you, Mike and Bryan, for bringing back my respect for American animation.

OH MAN you know, it's funny you mention Gargoyles specifically....I've spent a lot of time talking about how Avatar is, in some ways, the show the Gargoyles could have been if it was a little more consistent.

I'm an acquaintance of Greg Weisman, due to having been in the Gargoyles fandom for years and years and years....when I found out, at SDCC this summer, that he'd never seen Avatar...I'm actually considering burning a copy of the show for him and just MAILING IT with a giant note, as really...REALLY. *laughs*

1. I love this secret for it's use of the word 'foibles'.

But coming from a person who can't use 'its' right, it doesn't mean much.

22) I agree to some extent BUT:

Experience doesn't make a homosexual anymore than it makes a heterosexual and I am so sick of the "If you've never kissed/fucked a girl how do know you're gay?" line. That's some pretty shitty reasoning right there.
