I love toads' faces. They have the best faces. That unfazed "hmph" expression. :)

I wouldn't feel bad either. The music is the least grating part of Christian radio.

For me, it's the Misunderstood Genius With Daddy Issues similarity.

Makes me wonder what would have happen to Tony if he'd had a sibling that Howard favored over him. Not excusing it, because Loki dug his own hole, but Tony seems smart enough to understand the sort of motivation that makes starting digging look like a much better idea than it is.

Get the degree. Especially if you only have one class to take. Then you can lord it over the Unwashed Masses. (plus, better to have but not need than need and not have. What if your job is suddenly automated, or you have to move to an area where that job is unavailable? A degree will give you more options for future jobs, even if you don't take them.)

You know, I wouldn't actually wish it on anyone, not even white people, but...welcome to how I've felt when dealing with white people all of my life. It's always in the back of my mind what prejudices are triggered when they see my dark skin and kinky hair and casual clothes, and my concerns are proven correct sometimes (not always, but it happens) when they're visibly surprised when I open my mouth and use big words with a "white" accent, or tell a white doctor I have no kids and have never been pregnant, or anything else that clashes with their unconscious beliefs about black women.

They're rarely malicious about it, but racism doesn't have to be hateful to be troubling. It's just reality and I work around the discomfort. No race should have to, but I admit that I have trouble feeling sympathy for white people bemoaning the lost unawareness that I - and many other minorities - have never had.

UGH don't remind me of that horrible thing D:

I permanently live in the Time Before the Miscarriage, where everything is happiness and threesomes ;_;

Seriously though I hope they go to more cons because they are adorable together.

I actually hadn't even known they'd ever interacted AT ALL when I started shipping them. I just heard about it, and then I really liked it because of the personality appeal. (Sort of an opposites attract type thing - uptight and bespoke with snarky and rugged). I figured it was like a Mystrade thing - Mycroft and Lestrade of Sherlock fandom, who were the second largest pairing in Sherlock fandom way back when even though they'd literally never interacted in the show and most likely didn't even know about each others' existences. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I heard Clint and Phil had shared some lines beforehand.

Some pairings with extensive interaction have small followings while others with little to no interaction hit it big. In most fandoms, I've noticed that canon interaction between the characters often has very little to do with the popularity of the pairing. Usually it's just the characters themselves, their histories personalities. If you look at (MCU) Steve/Tony fics, they often have very little to do with the tension built up in the movies - usually it's related to their personalities (very proper hero with the very improper anti-hero), their histories (daddy issues with Steve and Howard, anyone?), and their backgrounds (old-fashioned man out of time vs modern futurist). Usually, even when their canon interaction is brought up it's mostly in relation to those previous not-directly-canon issues rather than the interaction itself.

*shrugs* Really, most of fandom in general tends to just use canon material as a jumping point and run away from there, if you think about it. ANY pairing - from something as popular as Steve/Tony or canonical as Pepper/Tony to as remote as, IDK, Frigga/Tony (most obscure pairing I could think of that actually has fic for it) needs little to nothing - even if it'll happily take a lot - because most of fandom at large doesn't need that much to go on in the first place.

I thought I recognized that line! I love that fic.

Yeah, that was a bit of a shock. I didn't hate her, but the reaction I've seen is mostly surprise and, of course, more hatred for Joffrey.

Also Melisandre taking Gendry: God damnit. :(

I didn't see any chemistry in their movie interactions at all, frankly

i didn't, either. i could barely even remember their scenes when i tried to recap the movie to someone else literally 40 minutes after i'd first seen it.

Don't worry, I assure you there's worse fic out there. Just post and have fun.

Femslash, in an established relationship, and very experienced with each other. This scene is fairly vanilla and I have the mechanics of it all worked out, I just seem to be afraid to actually continue.

Any time the relationship between you and a significant other resembles how an adult treats a child, there's a problem in your relationship. Unless you mean that one time one of you got really drunk or really sick and the other one had to look out for them, for a while.

Really. What kind of life are you living that there's no social justice issues that impact you, personally, at all? If you're in a position of privilege so profound that you are able to now feel little or nothing for the many variances of social fuckery most of us experience in some form, then I suspect you never had any particular sensitivity for such problems in the first place.

Mostly video games.

Thief, Cyberpunk 2077, Remember Me, Witcher 3, etc.

Guess I'll be getting a next gen console sooner than I thought.

I regularly spend upwards of four hours a day masturbating. I am aware that this is a lot but sometimes I just get the urge and it's hard to ignore. Also I'm incredibly depressed at the moment and masturbating instead of attempting to talk to people or do things is just so much easier. I'm beginning to remember with great fondness the handful of years between starting to masturbate and figuring out how to do it properly when I'd just give up after ten minutes of painful fumbling and go read a book.

I have not! I will have to look for them!

(Anonymous) 2013-05-08 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
I'm like this too!

But maybe it's because I've been writing fic for way more time than drawing fanart, and I'm more confident in my writing skills than my drawing skills. (It doesn't help that my fandom is full with art students/professionals and my drawings look like they were done by a five year old)

But, OP you should try post it. Look at it this way: there's always someone who will like your work, and as with drawing, you need to do a lot of practice to get better at it.

Except then you have to deal with the people who get pissed that you didn't tag your background pairings, because now they can't filter out your fics while searching for it. -_- And surprisingly, these people exist. It takes all sorts, I suppose.

I tend to just say "fuck it!" and not really do anything about it. If readers are going to get up in arms about a pairings that's just being mentioned in the background and has little or no bearing on the story, then they probably don't even like the story itself so why bother pandering to them?

Personally, I tend to be irritated by people who assume that if a pairing is canon, you don't need to tag it. Like, people are allowed to dislike non-canon pairings but canon pairings are supposed to be universally liked? Don't get me wrong, I love most of the canon pairings (I love most pairings in general) but this attitude just irritates the hell out of me.

I'm pretty sure that if you look on the avengerkink archive, you'll find some smutty Steve/Coulson.

I think the reason it isn't more popular is that the dynamic is kind of goofy, because Coulson is a total fanboy and his fanboying of Steve is a break from his usual demeanor that's played for laughs. However, I have read one utterly heartbreaking one-sided!Coulson/Steve fic that believably treated the pairing totally seriously.
