I don't think every SuperWhoLock is inherently any worse than any other crossover. Saying this is like saying that every poem in prose is inherently worse than any traditional poem. They're just genres/universes, they tell the reader nothing about the contents or the technique.
So, yeah, I find it a tad stupid when people say that they hate all the SuperWhoLock - unless it is because they hate one of the shows involved.
This being said, I do find both SPN and Doctor Who boring, creepy and at times generally low-quality, so I'm one of those folks who won't read SuperWhoLock works due to their aversion for the shows involved.
Also, it (understandably) annoys the hell out of people when there's some other minor universe involved in a huge crossover and then the fandom of the minor canon is spammed with bloody crossovers they don't really want to see, much less read.
(And, tbh, it's funny how you draw the line at the inclusion of Avengers and HP)

People on tumblr have problem learning to fucking SCROLL ON BY, though.

Still pretty annoying though. I hate it when people tag SuperWhoLock on non-crossover stuff. Just because something features one of the fandoms does not mean that it needs the fandom portmanteau tag. Just another example of tag abuse which is eroding fandom faster than a hooker's knee cartilage.

As for me? I don't really care either way.
But seriously, if you like something just enjoy liking it. What other people think doesn't matter as long as you're not hurting anyone. So... stop paying attention to them. Let them dislike it. Let yourself like it unabashedly.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)Considering some of the things I wrote fifteen years ago, I'm not really in a position to criticize other people's choice to throw a lot of stuff they like in a basket and laugh maniacally. Enjoy. But it's their cocktail of awesome, not mine, so it's not to my taste.
Another factor for me is that I'm not very fond of Sherlock, and it's outside the sci-fi/horror genre, so it annoys me.
Yet another factor for me is my violent aversion to portmanteau fandom descriptors.

P.S. Fucking Sherlock crossovers and alpha/omega stans stay out of the James Bond fandom!

Because why the fuck?
(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)Supernatural is fantasy, and used to be monster-of-the-week. Doctor Who could combine with that reasonably, having its own supernatural elements, but why would the consulting detectives even be there? What situation would require hunters, consultants, and someone who can bend time and space? You'd think a combination of any two would be enough, but all three? Why the fuck would they even be working together? Why would they even be on the same continent?
Basically, it all boils down to the fact that combining more than two fandoms is really hard to do, much less do well. If you choose your fandoms wisely, it can be done, but those three in particular are pretty much just "most popular fandoms right now."

I'm not fond of it (despite having been in each of the fandoms at some point) but I don't get bent out of shape about their existence. So don't worry about everyone else and just enjoy.

Secret 9 - Supernatural, Doctor Who, Sherlock
I like Supernatural. I like Doctor Who. I like Sherlock. I adore crossovers. So I don't get why everyone looks at SuperWhoLock like it's a bad thing. Yeah, once you get into SuperWhoAvengePotterLock and the like you've gone too far, but just these three... I don't get the hate and it makes me feel guilty for liking it.
Secret because: SuperWhoLock is clearly of the devil.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-22 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)But seriously, OP, if you enjoy it, then go ahead and enjoy it. Don't shove it in people's faces, but don't feel guilty about liking a thing that isn't causing any harm to anyone. I'm gonna go on enjoying my crossovers of 10+ shows, and the haters can get fucked.

But if it gives you a thrill, ignore the haters. I probably read something you hate, we all have different priorities as readers...

I guess I also have the good fortune of having no SuperWhoLock stuff at all on my dash so I don't feel over-saturated with it. Guess none of the people I follow are into crossover stuff (at least, not for super popular fandoms).
