Re: What's your favorite weird thing that you love about your country?

I'm from Australia, and while there's a lot of things I dislike about my country, I also like that we're generally pretty laid back about things like religion and politics.

Also our environment, while terrifying at times, is also AWESOME.

If you could change one thing about yourself...

i have a patch on the back of my neck, up in my hair. usually it's either stress or heat/sweating that makes it itch. i use a fancy coal shampoo as well when needed although most of the time i just don't bother to do anything with it. ive learned to endure, or i say fuck it and scratch until it's gross and oozing heh.

There was this one time I went to a really boring school assembly that dragged on forever. The only way I could keep my eyes open was to rip my pamphlet into little tiny pieces. I wasn't even tired, just bored.

Happened in high school a lot. All of my classmates would leave the class at the end of the bell without even waking me, and the teacher for my next class would have to come get me.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Mostly in teleconferences. I haven't dropped the phone and faceplanted into my keyboard yet, but it's probably just a matter of time.

Fucking freedom fries. I am so happy that went away.

Recs for World War One fiction?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-28 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I really want to read or watch something really good set during WWI. Does anyone have any books/shows/movies set during this time that goes into extensive detail about the effects of the war both at home and on the battlefield?

Am I the only one who thinks the SERIAL MURDER OF SLAVES is a bit more disturbing than being a crook?

I mean I don't think it's ever wrong to enjoy a character, they are fucking fictional. BUT I DON'T THINK YOU QUITE UNDERSTAND HOW BAD THIS HISTORICAL FIGURE WAS, OP

It's title is Horatio HORNBLOWER. If that's isn't a gay porn title, albeit, a classy gay porn title, I don't know what is.

"Hey, Captain Hornblower, why don't you come over here and blow my horn." *eyebrow wiggle*

So many political science journal articles. I wonder if these guys have some sort of aversion to letting anything about their work sound interesting for fear of being discredited as being "not a real science" or something.
