I'm not sure how forced sex isn't rape. Too many people EVEN THE WRITERS OF THE RAPE think "rape" is only done to women very violently by strangers in dark alleyways. That's not how it works. So they can CLAIM it's not rape all day long but that speaks more to their own ignorance.

Okay, here's a fandom example where death of the author CAN be correctly applied.

Maybe the creator truly didn't intend that. But if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, the fact somebody says "but I was trying to make a dog!" isn't going to be enough.

What I hate the most about it is that the show will NEVER address this. Sure it's supposed to be a family show, but look at everything that's gone on in said family show. Of course too since they killed Graham so early on it just further proves that they're all too happy to sweep it under the rug and pretend it never happened.

And people can argue about their Storybrooke relationship all they want (even if Graham still didn't have his heart nor his memory and therefore couldn't give informed consent) - but I'm honestly afraid for anyone who looks at the scene of Regina ripping out the Huntsman's heart and telling her guards to take him to her bedchamber (with the Huntsman refusing all the while) and doesn't see that as a prelude to rape.

I'm not in the fandom (and wasn't so much even when I watched the show) because I have a lot of issues with the fandom. However, I seem to recall that anytime anyone brought up Regina (usually in regards to her relationship with Henry and Emma's relationship with Henry), at least half the people said she was irredeemable because of the Graham situation. So I obviously don't see the same issue that you do.

I hate so much when people compare bad acts done by characters. It pretty much dismissed the "lesser bad" as if it wasn't that much a big deal.

I like Regina as a super flawed character, but I don't think she's good, including what she did to Graham. I think her redemption is interesting, but yeah I don't excuse what she did to Graham.

And lets not forget about all the kids she sent to be killed in order to retrieve that stupid apple! Reasons like these are why I can't take her (*and Rumple's) "redemption" seriously.

I can't even keep track of all the awful shit Regina has done, but what she did to Graham was disgusting and I don't think I can ever like or fully trust her.

Urgh, I'm more pissed that Regina was a genocidal maniac that what he did to Graham.

Which, and let those stones fall on me, wasn't rape: There's a degree of magical coercion that really can't be translated to our own sense of morality. Did Willow rape Tara with the memory erasing spells? Did Regina rape Graham by whispering "do me" into his heart? It's a pointless moral question that will never be applicable on a real life situation, and I can't help but think it trivializes the whole deal.

Dub-Con is the best place to shove those questionable things that are really not cool, but you can't actually call rape, specially the definition of it based on our present context.

FTL is mostly a medieval society, can we justifiable apply our morals? It just feels ridiculous that people get so hung up on the rape thing when whe know she is a MURDERER (human life is another thing that ain't no thang on FTL)

"Rape is Rape" is not really true, sorry. actions and reactions are subservient to their contexts. You could sell human beings, and it was normal on the past, and that shit is unjustifiable from our present perspective now. Take Regina, a monarch with the lives of her subjects at her disposal, and Graham's fate is almost a kindness.

Regina is a product of her context, rape doesn't mean the same on all points of history, is not an absolute but a relative specific to a point in time. Good news is that we are evolving, and things do get progressively better.

Unless we get colonized by sex crazed aliens that will commodify us as sex slaves across the universe.

Point is, Regina fans are not "excusing rape" is just that even crazy Regina stans have more awareness of context that you, and I say this like someone that loathes Regina, not by the "rape", but for the COUNTLESS LIVES SHE HAS TAKEN.

And if people forgive mass murderers on their fiction (like always)a little rape thrown in the middle is a spec of evil at best.

I actually agree that there was control involved, essentially domestic violence. But I also think that and committing heinous acts doesn't make someone irredeemable or uninteresting. I think she's awesome as a character because she's made bad decisions and done bad things. *shrug* So stick me and many others in the regina-is-awesome category. One thing that was shown is that Graham did come to Regina for sex without her holding his heart, so even if she did have the power, she didn't force him to do her, he had some kind of choice.

Regina's a bad person and it'd be ridiculous to think the things she has done we're okay. But it's hard to stay mad when it's like the rest of the show has forgotten. I feel like these writers drop everything and the old storylines don't even exist. Hell it never even dealt with what she did to the Sheriff.

This is brought up in almost every discussion about Regina that I've ever seen, even if it's just to argue against her guilt, so I'm not sure where you're hanging out. Plus Pan being Rumple's father was revealed two weeks ago - Regina has been in the show since the start, so fans aren't going to view them in the same way.

Personally I don't deny what she did, and I think the show is frequently really messed up, unintentionally. But I don't think that means the character has no ability to be a better person.
