Realbatch is geekier looking, that's the main difference. It's only when he's acting or has his promotions face on that he looks like his waxwork.

That he can change his face so much just by tensing/relaxing his facial muscles is why he's in demand as an actor.

That hasn't really been my experience? I feel like most people in fandom are fairly aware that the Cardassians as a political entity are pretty awful, and that Dukat is completely evil, as much as Cardassians and Dukat are also fascinating. Like, Cardassians are interesting and cool. I can think that and also recognize that the occupation was fucked up.

And on the other hand, that doesn't mean that all Cardassians as a race are evil, ofc, and I don't think Garak is anywhere near the same category as Dukat.

Murder Rooms/ACD&Joseph Bell masterpost

[personal profile] dreemyweird 2014-11-12 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
http://thedarkbeginnings.tumblr.com/post/102381065346/murder-rooms-the-dark-beginnings-of-sherlock

so I've compiled the thing! I think I've managed to include all the Joseph Bell works whose existence I'm aware of. But any suggestions are welcome 9_9

This also contains a link to the /navigation post for this particular blog, which some non-tumblr Rooms fans may find handy.

Covering your knees in a government job is not remotely retro. If a real G-Woman nowadays went around in short (by which I mean, above the knee) skirts she wouldn't keep her job long.

Well, Klingons are violent dumbasses and people like them too.

And yes, Cardassians are hot.

Is this even a secret, or just common knowledge?

Slightly OT: this is why I ditched on the unauthorized Krazy Kat novel. It consistently genders Krazy as female to comment on gender roles and stereotypes, and Krazy is not female--at least, not exactly. The most appropriate pronoun might actually be "fae" (and fuck me for admitting that "fae" can ever be useful as a pronoun.)

She definitely does look hot there.

Not seen that episode. I was more of a Major Kira DS9 afficionado.

I don't but I know others who do and I get it. Watch the show and then you'll get it. They are charismatic and manipulative as anything. Like Fallen Angels charming.

this, lol

(I assume it's because Moffat wrote the episode where he was introduced, IIRC? But still, Jack was Rusty's thing)

I feel like I'm seeing double and it's really creepy.

I think subby is upset that people are interested in Cardassians at all. Like, "How could anyone like them?" in the same way people like The Joker or Hannibal, when they are just as evil. It's because they are interesting. Simple as that.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
No. Formal business suits for women still fall below the knee. You could get shorter skirts back then as well.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-12 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh, Jack. I loved him in Doctor Who, but he was so grating in Torchwood. The only thing he's a shining example of is how to ruin a fun character.

The Klingons have the 'noble warrior' thing going for them. These guys...not so much.

Get off the internet and onto your spouse.

I don't think she was putting it on, but then neither was Eeyore. It seems unfair to pick up on her natural expression, and she was genuinely an inspired baker.

Reminds me of this one fandom I was in where the kink meme needed an entire round... for every ship that wasn't the popular ship.

...okay, I like this.

Eh, you know what?

His unabashed and unapologetic sexuality is actually a large part of what I like about him. I'm not bi, so obviously that's going to influence my view of it - but, I don't think that every character needs to be a shining beacon of representation, either. The trouble isn't so much that Jack Harkness is the way he is, it's that if you can count bi characters in mainstream media on one hand, then your representation isn't nuanced to begin with.

Also I'm pretty sure Jack was RTD's creation, not Moffat's.

Yeah it's one of those things where there's nothing wrong with being like the stereotypes but it would be nice if there were some other people from the group who didn't fit the stereotypes too.

I didn't quite understand your secret until I saw that bottom row of pictures. LOL at those facial expressions.

If you want cheap business wear, hit the clearance rack at Macy's. I've gotten beautiful pencil skirts there (formal, lined) for $20 or less.
