I think it's approaching the issue from the wrong angle. Why do we socialize people to move aside when some asshole of whatever gender is selfishly getting in everyone's way, and call that polite? That's beyond polite, since it's the other person overstepping their boundaries

from what I've seen the IB stuff it not so much about 'IB as a romance' because that's actually handled pretty well. It's more to do with the relationship he enters with Dorian if neither of them are romanced because there's just a thread of stuff through it that seems OOC for the pair of them (especially when you compare how IB acts with a romanced Inquisitor and how that arc plays out)and just adds some rather uncomfortable stuff.

Hey all!

My mom's hurt her foot and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. She used to do a lot of aerobics (mostly treadmill and DVD workouts with jumping and steps and stuff). Now, she can't do that and she's becoming depressed without some exercise.

She works full time and doesn't have time for a gym or anything like that. Does anyone have some aerobic exercises she could do that don't involve her foot?

Coulson is def cute, and my type. I wouldn't kick him out of bed, but at the same time I have a dad, and while he's far from perfect I'd rather keep him.

I mean, Coulson could certainly give me advice, and cuddle me when times are tough and all that shit, but we'd have sex afterward and that would be weird if he was my father.

I think it's more a case of them thinking is like men don't see or acknowledge women as people so they don't feel the need to move, rather than a conscious display of power over women.

Heh. You know, quite a few awesome fanfic writers go on to write published fiction. But their audience doesn't necessarily follow them because it's not fandom. If ex-fanfic writers want a larger audience, they'll need to cater to more mainstream, non-fandom tastes. It's sort of a vicious circle.

I didn't really like SVU as much after Stabler left, but now there's no Munch, Cragen, Casey or Huong anymore... well I've pretty much given up.

I always shipped Alex and Benson although I think Benson and Stabler must have slept together at least once.

I could go to Walmart on a Saturday and get slammed on all sides from people of both genders and all ages and ethnicities. And I'm kind of a big white dude, but people seem to see me as harmless (probably because I tend to hunker down and avoid people as best I can and I guess I seem smaller than I really am.)

There's a reason I prefer to go shopping after midnight. And that's because I don't feel like playing human pinball in Nascar Fan Hell.

Went to the doctor about my face and he said he thought I had rosacea. The meds he prescribed were going to be $80 with insurance (according to him). Wal-mart called me and said that it would be over $200 because my insurance would not cover it. Called a local pharmacy and they had some. Went by after work so they could run my insurance information. My insurance covered it and it ONLY cost $10.

Someone actually made a video trying this out in a crowded street - with the result that 3 times as many women slammed into them (and were sometimes very rude about it, too. I mean, slamming into each other takes two people, not just one.).

I can think of maybe two instances where 'slamming' happened to me.

1. I was walking with my mother and two guys either refused to move over a little or just didn't think about it. Once we were a safe distance away from them we decided they were ill-raised jackasses.

2. This woman at my high school reunion kept purposefully bumping into people, me included. This guy I was talking and I eventually decided she was cray-cray.

From my totally scientific study related above, we can see that 'slamming' is an equal opportunity offense and the 'feminists' claiming it only comes from men should just shut the fuck and stop embarrassing themselves.

In fairness, Western porn is pretty similar in some ways.

How often is "teen" used as a search term (even though the actual performs, of course, are over 18)?

Or the number of pornographic videos that feature crying women and gaping/abused holes?

You could draw a lot of really negative conclusions about Western societies form our porn. But I don't think they reflect people's actual relationships.

I've been casually reading posts on this to see if anyone will bring a racial factor into the discussion. I saw a separate post that simply said "White women don't know how to say excuse me" and at first I was like, why single out white women for that? But then I wondered if it was a reaction to manslamming. Are they saying white women are guilty of doing the same thing to POC that manslamming claims men do to women? And then what about other factors like age, height, weight? I do believe there are prejudices involved in who tends to yield to whom, but it's much more complex than just men vs. women.

it boogles my mind. If you are the person who refuses to move, then aren't you the asshole? How do you absolutely know that the person coming at you wasn't going to move?
