25. if i ever had my art posted on 4chan, i wouldn't complain, i'd be happy. credit or not, i think it'd be awesome if people liked my art that much. :( people need to stop getting their panties in a bunch over shit like this. having your art used without credit is not the end of the world.

It's common courteousy to credit. No icon makers can whine about someone "not crediting" if they don't credit for their own shit. Let's not be hypocrites. If you're going to whine and cry about people crediting you for your icons, credit the people who actually make the art.

Also, people who draw fanart are also borrowing characters from different fandoms. So in that respect, fanartists can't whine about their art being taken because they're already taking someone else's design.

Morale: Be courteous to fanartists and they'll be courteous to you. People should be aware of the original source of the icon/art/wallpaper/whatever the hell it is.

Fanartists can whine about their art being taken... there's a considerable amount of originality that goes into fanart, believe it or not, and fanarts usually credit the series they're drawing, it's like a tribute. Without going into the legalities of it.

Icon-makers and 4-chan, however, really don't respect the artists like artists respect the original designs.

48. I always get confused when people mesh the names to represent a slash paring so it took me a minute to understand what you were talking about, but I get it. XD; I know what you mean. I usually like making the more 'uke-ish' character the dom (IE: uke-Ichigo ftw), but there are some pairings (ironically, it's my twincest ships, too) where it's hard for me to picture it flipped...

a. It's a fucking icon. Since when is 100x100 pixels srs bzns?

b. It's fanart. Technically, the artist doesn't even own that art, even though they made it. And I hope you don't use official art, because someone worked hard to make that too.

c. I'm a fairly popular fanartist and I love it when my art gets plastered on 4chan even though no one knows I made it, because as an artist it makes me much happier to see a lot of people enjoying my art than everyone knowing my name. And I don't care at all whether people use my art for icons.

For me the worst part of this style art is that these characters are supposed to be in high school. I just can't buy that these girls are 16, 17, 18... It's the thing that is keeping me from checking out Lucky*Star, too. Moe has gone too far.

I don't like that moe style either, but Lucky*Star is frigging hilarious. And it makes fun of the whole "moe" thing frequently, so that might make it easier to take. It's one of the most self-aware anime series I've ever seen.
