It is because it was like nothing that had gone on before. It was a Jurassic Park or Avatar in setting new standards on FX. Plus the way Christopher Reeve managed to make Clark Kent and Superman seem like such distinct people just be sheer acting, was way better than how secret identities had been managed before. Plus Reeve came across as genuinely warm and charming as Superman, with a charisma about him that was (again) brand new in acting terms.

It seems old hat now, but that is because we are measuring it against everything that has come since. When you measure it against all that went before, and remember that for many of the people who love it that they had literally seen nothing like it before in their lives when they saw it for the first time, then you start to understand it. You just need to consider it in context.

Yeah, given all the backlash, I think ABC will be pulling the plug on this one, and Castle will go down as a series with one of the most shameful back-halfs in the history of modern TV.

It was such a nice show that turned to shit and then rolled around in itself.

There were plenty of moments to make you feel bad, both with consequences and Max's internal thoughts. The paint scene for one.

You may not have the emotional intelligence to recognise actions short of corporal punishment as feeling bad consequences, but they were there. Sometimes immediate. Sometimes delayed until later.

Like it made me a bit sad but I didn't cry. Possibly because it was pretty cliche. I mean, as soon as you realized he was taking care of this small child, you knew he was going to die for her.

Making Evangelion less depressing really means they've missed the whole point of the show. Still better than the effortless badass Shinji fics, those are just stupid.

Although I confess to be a little hypocritical since I like the "Shinji gets turned into a girl by an Angel/Unit 01/Unit 00" fics. Which misses the point too, just in a different way.

Nothing is more stupid than the American Evangelion and pilot fics though. Nothing.

Chewie was always little more than a walking carpet prop in the movies. Han and Leia have so little screen time and interaction because they are no longer the stars of the series, they are there to provide the exposition and give context for the passing of the baton to the new kids. Essentially they are Mon Mothma and Obi Wan for the new trilogy.

Incidentally, what does everyone think of the alleged leak for ep VIII? Where it claims Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin? True, stupid, stupid enough to be true, or just stupid enough to be stupid?
