In many of my fandoms: "Love does not have to be perfect and flawless and healthy to be love." People who are dark, abusive people can still feel love, even if the way they express it is wrong. "If they loved you they wouldn't treat you this way" is not actually an accurate statement.

Fenris being trans makes absolutely no sense with his backstory. The evil magister who owns him just respects his pronouns and gender identity? In a society that ostracises LGBT people on top of that? Lirerally any one of the other companions could be trans and it wouldn't affect their backstory at all but somehow Fenris is the one fandom is really pushing.

As a headcanon for your own fun, fine. But I hate that people have latched onto it so badly that they harangue artists who draw him as cis (I've seen this happen with my own eyes twice now and I don't go near any of the wanky parts of the fandom, so it must be excessive. One of them was trans herself and had to explain that drawing him as trans would trigger her dysphoria FFS). Or insistence that it's canon when clearly it's not.

I also find cis people doing trans headcanons super creepy, so there's that too.

I think it's sad how in so many fandoms, being appreciative of the canon is seen as a bad thing, as "giving in," etc.

There's nothing wrong with you if you DO mostly just want to write fic (as opposed to meta) and if you don't have any canon ships. But what if I don't even care about the canon ships? What if I just want to love canon without having to apologize for it?

FMA: I don't think Roy should be Fuhrer. Honestly, I didn't like his group as much as I thought I would based on fandom. This goes especially for Riza. She didn't live up to the hype for me. I love Winry though.


Harry Potter: I don't like Molly Weasley for how she treated Hermione or Fleur and her sister. I don't find the Weasley family to be ideal that fandom portrays.

I don't know if it's controversial, but I didn't care about any of the deaths.

DC: I don't care about Batman and I definitely don't buy the idea that he could defeat anyone by preparing for it.

Sometimes unpopular decisions made by creators (like killing off a character, a certain pairing, certain events) ARE the right ones for the story. If fans got their way half of the things would be sappy romance and no story.

I want people to shut up about representation and to stop projecting their own emotional and mental problems on the characters. Yes, you are autistic/depressed/trans/who gives a shit, but that character is not and they don't need to be, so quit pestering the writers.

And this isn't even limited to one singular fandom.

I like Star Trek: Voyager better than The Next Generation. The fact that I also like DS9 better than TNG isn't so controversial. But the first I'm sure is.

For me it is the characters. I'm enjoying TNG on the rewatch, but I liked the other two better because the characters were more interesting to me. Other than Data, I don't really gravitate towards any of the TNG characters. None of them intrigue me as much as the ones on the other two series.

I don't care about Peggy Carter or Beyonce. Don't like them, don't dislike them, just don't care either way. But MCU fandom is obsessed with Peggy and pop music fandom is obsessed with Beyonce, and you can't NOT love them without people calling you a misogynist/racist.

I love femslash but I never got Peggy/Angie at all in Agent Carter. I'm not into any of the het romances either but Peggy and Angie felt like friends to me. I'm sad she wasn't in the final season but season 2 was filled to the brim with characters I can see why the creators felt there was no room for her.

Not my fandom, but I am kinda... perplexed by the whole Captain America is Hydra thing. I must be missing context, because my reaction was, "Oh, usual gimmick of turning a beloved hero evil. Meh." But apparently it's a much bigger deal now? I'm not sure why?

Trans headcanons where characters keep living with their pre-OP bodies in a fandom like Star Wars make no sense other than fetishism (when it's for characters who live somewhere else than a backwater planet) - they have highly functional fake limbs, magical healing gel, a magical mystery power etc. - there is no reason those characters would not have had an appropriate surgery by the time they're adults.

There's also no reason for all the excessive m-preg. You want the characters to have children? They have extensive cloning technology, no need for butt babies.
