My sister has been watching Lost again, and I was reminded how disappointed I was that it wasn't a slow about a bunch of folks stranded on a normal old island surviving standard non wacky perils. If you know of any media featuring this trope, hit me!

I've been obsessed with Swiss Family Robinson since I was a kid, and Castaway Planet is like the amazing space version. I read a bunch of kid books in the genre... Baby Island and the Island Trilogy and Keeper of the Isis Light. Castaway is the only movie I can think of but it's a darn good one.

Good Fridging Deaths

Okay, having a character stuffed in the fridge (ie, killed off mainly in order to cause angst for another character) is a pretty lazy and often crappy trope, not to mention that when you look at it across multiple canons, it has a distinctly sexist and racist and homophobic pattern.

BUT, that doesn't mean that *every* single instance in which a character is killed to give another one angst is bad. Sometimes, it still manages to work really well.
