33. Although not for the same reasons as you, I sort of dread this game's release as well. I wish that all three of the new games were just nightmares that I could wake up from. I'm not even sure if Squeenix's are the right shoulders to pile the blame on, but all they've done recently is make crappy spinoffs to suck away people's money. *angstsorrowWOE*

I dread the overall effects of 358/2 and coded. I'm not touching coded. Not for anything. NO. I don't really mind 358/2 being fanservice from a personal standpoint (I'll play it and love it), but I don't want the games branded with the big FANSERVICE label any more than they already are.

I think Birth By Sleep might be really good, though...but I don't want there to be Terra/Ven slash. Too bad there will be. >_

42. Okay. She's the one fictional character I feel defensive over and that's because people won't give her a break. Out of all the characters, I find her to be one of the most believable. She doesn't have a particularly fascinating past, both of her parents (I presume) are still alive, she has a rivalry over a boy with one of her friends, she has crushes like a normal girl would, and yes, even obsesses at times; it's something most girls do. She may not be strong at first, but not everyone will develop immediately; Sakura is a late bloomer. She wasn't always nice to Naruto, but she's human, and prejudices with which a child is raised are hard to overcome. She comes to realise what a valued member of the team he is.

As for her lack of assistance in the beginning, as I said she is a late bloomer. The important thing is that she honestly does her best to be stronger. And she succeeds, too. Yes, Chiyo did have to help her against Sasori, but Sakura did very well on her own behalf; she was facing an Akatsuki, after all. Sakura's not a shinobi known for her mad skills, so she did remarkably well against an Akatsuki. I don't like her for her "amazing" skills as a fighter, but what she honestly tries to do for her team. Have you read the manga and gotten past the first arc? While I don't even bother with the series anymore, I do still like Sakura.

Also, yes, I HAVE heard of most of those characters you've listed, particularly the Avatar girls. Yes, Toph is untold levels of kickass; I happen to like a rather broad variety of female characters, from those who are outright badass and we miss out on most of how they got like that to those who are more for support but show their progression in strength.

49 - I think a lot of it's appeal is the fact that it's characters are "perfect" and its main audience isn't geared towards those who are going to necessarily critique her writing, but instead take the story for a light-hearted break from reality, every once in awhile an easy read can be great, it can also give a person a greater appreciation for what they do have after fangirling for the Cullens and realizing that it's not-realistic, it's not meant to be. It's interesting how most people seem to either love it or loathe it based on the "perfectness" or the writing style/lack thereof. My friends and I read them and like them, but we also talk about the problems with it and how for some people it could be a total set up for a let down with reality, but what's wrong with a book that's not-realistic? Isn't that what many books aim for?

Okay, I haven't done extensive research on the subject, but I've read the Wiki pages. So if I've missed something, you can disregard what I'm saying.

But for the love of fuck, could we not go making erroneous claims about new characters just because they're female and OMG a threat to the buttsecks? Jesus manloving CHRIST. As far as I know, there is no established information on XIV other than she's female. This doesn't give anyone grounds to go and assume she's going to be a Mary bloody Sue. Larxene was a member of the Organization? Was she a Mary Sue? No, she was a kick-ass, take-no-shit powerbitch with a vendetta and a wicked if frightening penchant for Marquis de Sade.

42. It's too bad that you can't see that Sakura is just as kickass and determined as those other girls you mentioned. It's even more impressive because she didn't start off that way. It's called character development.

...and why is everyone picking on Hinata? Anyone accusing of her being "not brave" and "doesn't try" needs to analyze the theme of Naruto a little bit more.

I've been thinking about this for a while and I call bullshit on this whole "Trope" movement.

A trope is a rhetorical figure of speech that consists of a play on words. It's a linguistic term. If you look up trope, you'll get dozens of hits telling you it's a linguistic term in great detail. You'll also get a few hits for the Cantillion. It may also be used as a musical or philosophical term.

I can only find four instances of trope being referred to as being "a common theme in literature and television." That's on TVtropes, a wikipedia article with it's only reference being tvtropes, a wikitonary definition, and one other dictionary definition. Two of these reference sources are things anyone can edit. TV tropes seems to be the source of these lies so it doesn't count. None of the other dictionaries list this as a definition of trope.

I think TV Tropes appropriated this term and is now lying to all these gullible people who think a stop is a common theme. That's not what it is at all.
