It's this treatment of Doctor/Rose and Rose fans that keeps me from being involved in the main fandom even thought I adore Classic Doctor Who even moreso than New Who. It's so immature to hate people because they ship one specific thing. I never see this treatment extend towards Doctor/Jack, Doctor/Martha or any of the Classic Who ships. :/

And I can't speak for the other icon makers up there, but the second icon isn't just random text. Those are lyrics from Murphy Gold's "Love Don't Roam."

15. Because Ai no Kusabi only had two episodes, and the top ones have at least 37 (if not a few hundred)? More room for character development when a relationship isn't canon? There are plenty of people who like a series with more plot than just the relationships, not that I'm saying all the ones you mentioned are like that, since I only know Ai no Kusabi and haven't seen it in years. I still like it, just, the novels were never translated, and the OVAs are too short for me, personally. I can't really latch onto something that feels like it needs to be longer. I also have a very hard time not seeing Koji and Izumi (whom I noticed you did not mention) when I see Iason and Rikki and I'm always a little amused by that.
Also what is that series in the bottom left-hand corner? Looks pretty tasty.

But regarding the rest of your secret, it's supposed to make sense in that series' universe, not necessarily in real world conventions. I'm not sure how Ouran of all things makes no sense to you, it seems pretty easy to understand to me. Something like Excel Saga or Revolutionary Girl Utena, yeah, I'd sympathize, they're hard to understand as a newblet. But the ones you mention aren't really that hard to grasp...

53. That's why I was so impressed with Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The Atlantian (SP?) language was actually concocted by a lingust, and can be learned if someone were to teach you. I have no respect for movies or television shows that slack off in that department and just use sounds and words made up on the fly.

I dunno, man, I adore Hartnell's Doctor, but we just sat through Time Meddler and almost died of boredom. (The bits with the Doctor and the Monk are fantastic, however.) I'd rec The Aztecs myself.

Fans who've come to Doctor Who with the new series must get a hell of a culture shock when they have a look at the original show. A bit like the shock I imagine House fans get watching Blackadder. If you didn't grow up with it, I'll bet it's tough to work out why all these fans are hopelessly devoted to it, like an old, beaten-up teddy bear with one eye.

Hmm, I don't know about that. I'm a twentysomething American girl who came into the fandom with the new series; the Classic series has a very different tone and structure, but I wouldn't describe the sensation as "culture shock."

Also, I can't say for sure, as I'm a House fan who was previously familiar with Fry&Laurie, Jeeves&Wooster, and Blackadder before House aired... but I'd say an intelligent fan would be able to note that what makes Hugh really really good as House is ingrained in those years of comedy: TIMING.

Why I think he's overpowered:
If you hone your skills (as far as SSBB goes, it IS a button-mash-fest after all but it does take SOME ability) for weeks, it's not uncommon for somebody who picks up the first time to use Pit and then beat you. He doesn't take any skill-- while there are some people who can actually use him well, the vast majority of people use him because it's almost impossible to lose with him.

And as for ugly, it's all relative. I just don't find him appealing in the least. His face looks really, really weird to me and I can't explain why-- it has nothing to do with his popularity (at least at first, I admit that I'm starting to harbor a dislike), I've disliked his appearance since he was announced.

I'm so sick of people saying Rose is his true love. He has had many companions before her and have treated them the same way. I just recently got into Doctor Who from watching the new series but I still knew there were others before her. Why does everyone else ignore them?

Also: the Doctor shouldn't be shipped with ANYONE. Except maybe the Earth.

Not the OP, but... I dunno, I don't think what you said necessarily disagrees with the secret in question. Heck, I think it -supports- it (as far as I'm reading both your post and the secret). If Character A suddenly realizes that he/she is gay for character B, and their personality changes because of it (or to make it work) then... it would be OOC. Because their personality *shouldn't* change just because their sexuality might have.

...or am I misreading what you're trying to say? :/
