103. Wordy McWord, Word, WORD! Honestly, I think complete "open-mindedness" is impossible - Everyone has degrees of "close-mindedness" about *something.* In fact, (especially online), I've come to take people bragging about their own "open-mindedness" to be code for "I'm predujiced against the things and people it's POPULAR to be predujiced against right now."

Still, I feel it's the duty of people in fandom who are religious and/or spiritual and serious about it to be laid back. That secret posted some days ago by the person looking for Jesus/Lucifer slash - a lot of us were all "Meh, whatever, have fun."

Religion and spirituality is just gonna get made fun of, and we just gotta deal with it. I only get really pissed at actual discrimination/sterotyping ... the whole "All religious people are default-stupid!/oppressive hatemongers/should not exist!" attitude.

There is no correlation between intelligence, or even kindness - and faith and I wish people would stop acting like there is.


114. I'm scared of the fandom. I just enjoy the show. Stephen makes me laugh. He and Jon make the news not-depressing.


128. I know how you feel. I've been on there *at least* twice, but it was a long time ago. I worried about what people thought of me in online general fandom (and in my own home fandom) for a long time - I still worry about it.... but I know I shouldn't. They're just one com, just one group of people. Just lay low and don't be wanky anymore (or do, I think a lot of what's "wanky" is fairly arbitrary) and just try to pretend they don't exist, because, as long as they aren't somehow doing something to affect your real life, their opinions don't really matter in the long run. So, you made some mistakes... move on. If others don't, that's their problem.

I mean, I have problems with depression and considering watching "Schindler's List" on PBS years ago sent me into a solid depression for 3 days... That said, I don't have that problem with Evangelion and I love sci-fi apocalyptic (non-historic tragedy) things, but I think I understand. Don't feel bad about it, your health comes before anime.

135, just talk to me, tell me what you want me to read if you want me to read it. I come off as cold and a bitch because as it turns out that's the part of me I put in my LJ. And it's kind of a big part of me. But I'm totally different when you take the time to have an earnest conversation with me.

And this is quite bizarre because I, well... I didn't know that people knew who I was, much less that I supposedly have the large numbers of fans people here have implied that I do. I didn't know I was popular enough to be hated; I guess that's a good thing, really.

Gonna give you some good recs, IMO, some are kind of obscure: Baccano! (2008) Noein (2005), Princess Tutu (2002) & The Twelve Kingdoms (2002). Different genres for your choosing.

124. Overall, I think Season 4 was lackluster compared to the other seasons, but I still enjoyed it. I don’t think it was a bad season at all. It frustrated me at points, but when I rewatched it, all its good points seemed to shine.

I think it’s great to be able to like all the characters. After all, a story isn’t a story without the dynamic of multiple characters, so it’s very difficult for me to understand “hating” characters. That said, I still couldn’t find Thirteen even remotely interesting, simply because for a while she seemed like a pointless character, then too much like Cameron, and then too angsty. But the last couple episodes, particularly the season finale, totally changed my mind. Thirteen is starting to grow on me.

I say props to you for being able to take the characters as they are, and I wish you didn’t think it needs to be a secret. I think it’s the mark of a versatile fan.

Oh, shounen ai is still in use. Only, nowadays it means "shota porn mostly aimed at guys."

(I learned this the hard way when I downloaded a book titled "The Aesthetics of Shounen Ai" thinking it was an anthology of classic manga... and, well, it was an anthology of explicit shota porn.)

162. Their relationship is one of my main reasons for not liking this book. It's just really pathetic on Bella's side. And really controlling on Edward's. So yeah I don't like these books. BUT I do like the fanfic. Seriously. There are some good writers in this fandom. I don't read Edward/Bella though. Mostly Edward/Rosalie, Jacob/Bella sometimes, and Edward/Jacob. And I am done rambling now. I have to stop with the caffeine at 1am.
