Maybe it's because you mentioned history but I totally read this as "become evil, or Romans" and was like hey I would totally read a book where characters suddenly turned out to be ancient Romans. Nobody expects ~~the Spanish Inquisition~~ Caesar crossing the Rubicon

Actually on topic though, I don't mind it if it's supernatural in a way historically accurate according to what the people believed at the time and staying true to historic supernatural beliefs? Idk if I'm explaining this right. Victorian era fiction turning out to have Victorian era style ghosts and seances is cool with me but not if it's inaccurate to the era

I think it is difficult to translate animation to cosplay but will look at videos.

You reminded me of a dude that was too real with his cosplay - he have not changed on the venue and his costume had guns (prop ones). Forgot who he was cosplaying but it was someone pretty menacing looking plus he was of film prop background. That is the only instance I can think of about cosplay being too real :P .

(It was London, dude was indeed arrested as police was convinced he had real weapons - toy guns and props not used on sets need to be marked and he has not done that or put them away)

Terrible. It would look terrible. CGI still wouldn't be able to capture anything in Lovecraft's descriptions, because Lovecraft's descriptions mostly aren't, like, visually specific, and they don't rely on visual specificity. And making that assumption - that you can use CGI to successfully depict Lovecraftian horrors - is honestly maybe the worst conceivable idea to have for a Lovecraft adaptation, because then you show the monsters instead of the atmosphere around the monsters.

At best, you'd have a giant monster film with the monster called Cthulhu instead of Godzilla. Which might be OK, but isn't really Lovecraft.
