People notice anime more because its DIFFERENT.

Uh. Have you been to deviantArt? Or seen the sketchbooks of at least 80% of teen artists? Or the huge sections in the book stores loaded with manga...? Anime's pretty commonplace nowadays. It was "different" a decade or two ago. Now it's practically the default setting for artists just starting out.

And in most cases, more beautiful.

Actually, I'd argue that while it can be done beautifully, a lot of the time it's pretty poorly executed, even by so-called professionals. It doesn't matter what style is employed, it is the skill and talent behind the art that makes it succeed or fail. There's lots of good anime and a lot of crap anime, just like in any other area.
