Good places to buy custom tablet cases, shirts, etc

So every year for awhile now I’ve bought a few Christmas presents on society6, redbubble, etc. This year I went looking for merch for my friends’ fandoms and a few of mine and found bupkis. I’m tempted to go with one of those places where you can just upload photos and get them printed on things, and using official promo art/photos, because honestly for the fandoms my friends and I are into, they or I already own the tiny amount of existing merch, or there isn’t any to buy at all. Has anyone had any experience using any of those services? How’d it work out?

Net Neutrality

Can someone explain Net Neutrality? What's going on? What will happen if it goes away? Can we ever get it back if it does go away? What makes this time different from all the other times the FCC floated the idea?

And why does the FCC - I know they're behind this - want to get rid of it if practically the entire userbase of the Internet thinks it's a horrible idea and says so every time these idiots raise the issue?

For me, it's seeing eyebrows drawn on with eyeliner pencil and those nasty jean shorts with the pocket pouches hanging out of the legholes. Both look hella trashy to me.

Today we are discussing Hot Fuzz!

1. What was your initial reaction when the movie started? How did that change by the end of the movie?

1. I fucking love the beginning of this movie. And it doesn't change. Obviously it reminds me of Shaun of the Dead. I love the sort of...manic humor the movie has. I just really love this movie all the way through. I didn't like the Romeo and Juliet scene. It was boring.

2. I can't decide if I like Danny or Nicholas better. I think they just work so well as a team it is hard to judge them separately. I am not sure if I have a least favorite character? They were all so much fun. Maybe the male actor in the Romeo and Juliet play.

3. My favorite scene is when he first goes to the hotel. I love the joke with the crossword puzzle. Such good fucking humor. I

4. I didn't find the music at all memorable.

5. It was wonderfully shot. I love all the background jokes you see while watching the movie. I also love all the scenes that are similar to Shaun of the Dead. I also love how so much stuff ties back together for the final shootout (like the guy in the giant coat).

1. I actually didn't think I'd like it because I don't like Shaun of the Dead, so I was expecting to come out of it thinking it was a waste of my time. But I ended up really enjoying it.

2. Um, not sure tbh they're all pretty fun.

3. The showdown in the street is pretty great, them chasing the swan or goose makes me laugh.

4. Nothing memorable tbh.

5. The background jokes are pretty good but I can't remember anything else right now(doesn't mean there isn't anything, brain is just fail today at memory).

This will be a slightly incoherent response to a brilliant film, but here goes.

I watched it years ago, but had forgotten some of the finer points.

Basic reaction: Midsomer Murders dialled up to twenty!

I was grinning right from the start. I loved the fast cutting, and especially during the grim journey to Gloucestershire. It's nice to know I'm not the only person who feels that way on British public transport!

It's a very well-staffed police station when he gets there! Do people already know what's going on? Is that actually why London sent its best copper to the wilds?

I think my favourite scene of the lot, by a very small margin, was “How much do I owe you?” “£20.” “Here's your change.” Such superb timing, with such deadpan delivery.

I remember the shock I got the first time I watched it during the fete scene, with what happened to Tim Messenger. D: Straight from dark comedy to on-screen comedy-violence..? Whoa.

Thinking about which character I liked best – I started off not liking Nicholas at all but was completely won over by the end. Danny was great all the way through and I loved their interaction.

The horse was GREAT. And where on earth did the swords come from? But hey, who cares? :D The model village shots were brilliant. Was I seeing an alien spaceship? I was quite prepared for this to be the case by this point. But no, it wasn't. And urgh, that shot with the model church turret argh argh.

And a final squee for Chekov's Swan. Brilliant.

...Well, like I said, incoherent. Whee!

I've seen the movie several times before, so I can't exactly give my first impressions. It's really fantastic, though.

I think the most interesting thing about it is probably the cinematography and the directing and the humor - Frost and Pegg are very good, but not much different or more likable than any other Frost and Pegg movie, and the actual plot etc of the movie is pretty dang thin. What's really striking is how clever everything is, and much thought has clearly gone in to so many small details. The way that the whole first half of the movie sets up this elaborate structure, and then just plays all of it off - it's just really impressive and also really satisfying. And also, the direction is so spot-on from an action movie point of view. It's really incredible how quick all the cuts are and how fluent it all is, all the way through, and again how differently the action direction plays in the first half of the movie where it's humorous compared to the second half where it's actual action. It's so well-done.

Great movie. Love it.
