110. ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS EVER, hands down! But I know what you mean, the way he wrote it just made everything seem so... realistic [which makes me feel like an idiot].

148. Shirley never deserved all the hate she did. She was a realistic person, I can't believe people bashed her so much. Not like she got much screen-time either.

The guy in the B&W pic is Tony Hancock, an iconic British comic genius - and for the aged amongst us UKites, that's who some of us first think of when we hear that surname - not a Will Smith movie. :¬)

Where the fuck is Harley Quinn?
That, is my question.

[identity profile] batty-gal.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
106 - I know, right? Too bad it isn't a BL series, but I enjoy it all the same. Still, don't hate it because of that -- but recognize that it isn't a BL series even though there's some hints and don't be too upset when it doesn't happen.

So far, the third season has been excellent -- and their relationship in particular has shown growth more than any other this season. And, I simply love Wolfram -- so I don't care who he ends up with just as long as he's happy.

107 - Ooh, don't I know what you mean! I'm re-reading some Batman books right now and I've fallen in love all over again. I'm avoiding the newer stuff, however. Nothing can top Batman for me -- nothing. So much angst, drama, such a wonderful rogues gallery. Just... yes.

120 - Stupid reason to ship something... you should ship it because you like it, not in spite of others.

127 - *stands up and applauds* Thank you! That's one of the dumbest reasons to NOT watch/enjoy something. Don't watch it because it looks sucky. Don't watch it because it's a genre you don't like. Don't watch it because the art's ugly in your opinion. But to not watch it because other people who do are batshit? Stupid as all out fuck.

129 - "If" you say. I'd say your death would be guaranteed.

140 - I understand. Still, I was pleasantly surprised by Batman Begins. Though Christian Bale's "Batman" voice sucked, he did a pretty good job as Batman and, especially, Bruce Wayne. Still, give it a try. Nothing can top the DCAU (fuck "The Batman", I'm not including that absolute pile of shit).

As for Harley Quinn, if I remember correctly, since she was a DCAU creation as well as going on the comic book timeline (from when they inserted her into their regular series), she isn't Harley until Tim Drake is Robin (I know, Dick Grayson was Robin in the animated series when she first appeared, but he hadn't been Robin for ages in the regular Batman series before they introduced her into regular continuity -- though if I'm wrong and they put her in his time someone correct me).

149 - That damn cod. Again. LOL

157

[identity profile] scootermcgaffin.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
The world would be a better place if more people liked Rhapsody. I truly believe that.

[identity profile] kyriesanctus.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
110. Personally, I'm a little upset. But it's still fun to think about.

115. No. I think you're the odd one out for a reason. Have you ever thought maybe you're taking what should be your escapism just a little too seriously? There's nothing wrong with appreciating the depth of a story, but to criticize those who simply just want to wave a lightsaber around and control other people's minds using the Force is just as childish as them wanting to do those things. (For the record, I like Star Wars because it's a deep universe with unlimited possibilities, and a lot of interesting history. Seriously, anyone who just watched the movies is missing out.)

120. LOL.

127. WERD. Even though I'm guilty of being inclined to stay away from a series because of the people in the fandom. If I truly love something, though, no amount of stupidity will make me stop enjoying it--it'll just make me not give it as fair of a chance as it probably deserves. The only thing I did give a fair chance was Lord of the Rings, and I was bored to tears regardless of what everyone else thought.

130. In all honesty, I'd be pissed if you were using it to pretend to be another person, but not if you were just posting fic and using the journal to thank people. Your friends probably wouldn't believe you if you became some kind of BNF, though!

131. Just make sure to pick a Pokémon that isn't so obscure, and stay away from the whole fursuit look--meaning no masks or anything. I doubt anyone would call you a fur if it's a recognizable Pokémon anyway.

148. Oops. Spoiled self. xD But I don't understand how anyone could hate her, either. She's pretty likeable, at least as far as I've gotten. (I think what you quoted is probably the equivalent to jealous fangirls, anyway. They like the male characters around her so they automatically hate her because of it.)

150. Repeat, I think? But I'm the same way. Maybe when it comes back I'll be more into it, but for now.. Eh.

159. I recognize Milla from Psychonauts, Guybrush from Monkey Island and Zanthia from Hand of Fate and Mingchao from Et Cetera? I'm afraid the other one is beyond me.

115, 127

[identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
115 - See, I like SW (only the movies, though, I'm not that interested in it otherwise), but I've never seen any traces of real depth or profoundness in them. To me, they're pretty much simple, fun escapism, like a fairy tale in space or something.

127 - Man, and I thought I was the only one. I'm surrounded by LotR fanatics, so even though I've never been interested in it, I finally gave in and tried to read it, but it was just horribly, painfully boring. It was the first movie that made me get, just a little bit, why people were so into it. Sadly I found the following movies criminally boring.

163. Stephen Fry is God. But you'll find someone, seriously - you never know when you might meet someone great. Hey, it could be in the next five minutes! Go outside and wait, maybe. :]

165. Yeah... um... *awkward turtle.* I felt awkward as well. Awkward for Rose, awkward for the Doctor, and awkward for the Doctor clone. I know Rose and Doctor clone seemed all like "omg ok I love you" but I thought it was weird how the Doctor just decided Rose would keep him, like a pet. *cough*Like he wanted to do with the Master*cough*. Unsettling just a touch.

166. I didn't like the ending, in my mind it didn't even happen, but I think sometimes people mistake a heartbreaking ending for a "bad" one. Like Rose's first ending? I thought it was fantastic. Not happy or something I wanted to happen to her, but poignant and heart-wrenching (yeah, Doc/Master shipper admits she found Doomsday moving, grargh). I think people forget that these characters aren't real people. I hate what happened to Donna - so much that it made me really, really sad, and I won't be forgetting it anytime soon. That's what a good ending is to me - one that affects you. *shrug*

Re: 163, 165, 166

[identity profile] xanykaos.livejournal.com 2008-07-13 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
166. ILU. Though I won't deny, I'm actually angry about what happened with Donna, but you're right. In a way, it probably makes RTD a better storyteller, that he can go and make us have such a furious reaction to it that isn't based on shipping or anything. I mean, it sucks that Donna's not going to be around, and it's a bit sick that the Doctor kind of mind-raped her, but it's absolutely and truly heartbreaking that Donna came out of medocrity and became an amazing person who saved lives and worlds, who (should've known, darnit, I got sick of hearing her say it after everything) was more than just a temp, and who was generally a better person for the experience...to have that all ripped away from her with nothing. Out of all the Doctor's companions, I think only two have ever been left with absolutely nothing of their time with him (Jamie and Zoe) and that was equally heartbreaking.

Heh. Awkward turtle indeed. And yeah, just a bit creepy, passing off people like that, even if they are clones of yourself.

Foreman is great! I have to admit that I prefer Chase and pre-Season-Three SUDDEN PERSONALITY OVERHAUL Cameron to him most of the time, but I still love Foreman, and 'Fools for Love' incites BLAZING FOREMAN ADORATION every time I watch it.
