It's not unusual at all. Seriously, my day job is working in a sex toy store. There is no reason that a young woman shouldn't be using extra lubricant. It reduces chances of condoms ripping, it increases the pleasure for a man wearing a condom, it reduces bad friction, it doesn't dry out the way a woman's natural lubricant can. Using lube is totally normal and makes good sex great.

No shame there.

104. As many have said before. It's completely normal. How much water you drink can severely affect these things too. I think most fanfiction where the girl is "wet and ready" is written either by a man or by a woman who either A. isn't writing from personal experience or B. thinks that it's normal and that they personally are probably just a little abnormal. Because if a girl is turned on she should be wet right? Alas, it doesn't work that way.

Not sure I follow you about the protection thing (pre-1980s= not particularly unusual not to wear any) but I agree the film had many problems and it certainly wasn't as revolutionary as the hype suggested, if anything the plot was one of the other fiction-plots ascribed to homosexuality, Dirk Bogarde's 'Victim' being one of the first main stream films with a lead homosexual character. (Homosexuals in film being, traditionally, either "neutered spectacle" i.e. camp and harmless or weak, somewhat neurotic and obviously doomed to misery) I went to see it with my university's lgbt and I was really annoyed by it- the symbolism of the black and tan hats, the idea that one was 'gay' the other 'only gay for one man', the fact that there were more breasts than gay sex, Bottom!Jack etc. Some of which, I was informed later, comes from the director reliant on influences from chinese-and-similar film and cultural semiotics which perhaps doesn't translate as well for the intended audience.

I'll stop now, before I go further, suffice to say that when it comes to the lgbt history books I sincerely hope Brokeback is relegated to a scant mention and the focus is on Transamerica which came out around the same time (maybe a year earlier?) and was much, much more 'revolutionary' in its politics.

101. Well, I haven't had a chance to check out the Japanese version of that scene, but in the dubbed version it was... horrendous? Terrible? I mean, yeah, like someone here said, the concept behind the scene is beautiful, but the dub makes it god-awful (it kind of makes me want to stab my ears, actually). I had to push the mute button when I was playing through that scene, I just couldn't stand Yuna and Tidus' voices :D

And to all the commenters dissing the movie: look, it wasn't politically revolutionary or aesthetically groundbreaking, it was just very good. You're allowed to dislike it, and you're right to think that in some ways it was conservative, but claim that it was a bad movie and I'll just laugh at you.

104. Perfectly normal—women even use lube who don't need it for the special effects. (Flavored, anyone?) It's probably the mix of real life making fantasy unsexy, "shh! You're right; it is about friendship. Every single major relationship in the story is a new facet of how friendships work. You're totally not alone in KH having moved your life enormously; I think I'd be a much different person without occasionally having kicked myself and said "Why am I acting like Game I Riku?!" or "What Would Sora Do?" :D It's an awesome, awesome thing to be a part of. Even if our fandom is a bit strange.

For the other... (shrug) I slash who I slash because I have a really strong belief that the best love comes from the best friendships. In my world-iew, KH wins for slash in that way.
