135 - On the other hand, not all Brits use the slang that I often see crop up in fics. Personally, I don't say 'mate', and rarely say 'bloody' or 'oi'. Of course, sometimes it's canon, but the truth is (sad or otherwise, depending on your point of view) we're pretty damn Americanised, especially the younger you go.

I get really worried about my British slang, because my mental lexicon of it was developed by years of reading old books by British authors. I always have to stop myself and wonder if anyone has used that particular phrase in the last 50 years. :o)

I wikipedia-ed the plot so I could vaguely convince people I'd seen it and get out of being dragged there by well-meaning but highly irritating friends who felt the need to shove this movie down my throat because it was ZOMGGENIUS. Believe it or not, that's pretty much it. And so long as no one ever finds out I haven't actually seen it, I wont have to pay money to sit through yet another misogynistic, death, violence and gore fest. I'm not saying I wont eventually d-load a DVD rip out of curiosity about the cultural phenomenon it's turned into, but I'm not paying money to see something that has no actual entertainment value for me other than that.
