I haven't seen it yet, but it seems like a nice fun movie. Maybe things just need to be horribly depressing, and filled with X-rated scenes to be considered good nowadays?

Well, in my mind they're still a bit too heavy on the 'mystical prophecy doublespeak' thing, but i agree - this young man is very talented and easy on the eyes. I think the majority of the cast is interesting and well played.

Season two had some intriguing revelations and events, still a little slow.

But the adaptation is not and never can be the source text. If you think it's a bad change, then fine, make that argument on its own terms.

But to object to it *just* in the grounds that it's a change - that "if they wanted it to be diverse they should have made it diverse in the first place" - doesn't make sense to me. If adaptations can change things in a way that genuinely improves them, they should do so. If you can remedy a flaw in the original, you should do so.

(I'm not even going to touch the stuff about redheads being sort of minorities)

100% absolutely cosigned. Cannot stand him and wish he wasn't in anything and this would be up my alley if he wasn't in it. Thankfully Netflix has at least gotten the message not to recommend Sandler movies to me after I only had to go through and thumbs down all his movies.

tbh I'm glad she didn't marry at all - he might have died even younger if she had. But Tom Lefroy was annoying - and she herself said that it was just a flirtation, a fun thing. I don't know why it was built up so much by the film. He said, just before he died, that yes, he was in love with Jane, but it was a boy's love, not a man's.

I'm rather fond of the theory that the man she would have married who died was John Wordsworth, brother of the poet.
