how does one go about befriending someone again when the last time you spoke you fought over one being too sad to be helped or talk to anyone? i wanted to protect my friend from the sadness and that just made it worse, but i don't want it to devour them either by bringing it up again

Should I use ice or heat for heel pain while I wait for referral to a podiatrist?

Started out as just pain at the back of my heel when I walked barefoot or stood barefoot. Has progressed to my whole heel any time I put any weight on it or any time at all really. Worse barefoot, but bad all the time. Still feel some pain even lying down with no weight on it at all. I've tried both ice and heat, and neither has helped all that much that I can tell so far.

Sadly, I've got 4 more hearings this week, so I can't just stay home. And one is at Pearsall, which means a lot of driving. I've got orthopedics in my sandals, but they aren't as good on my feet as my sneakers. Can't get away with sneakers in court, though.

Security guard in court today went off on a second amendment rant today about how it was people exercising their second amendment right who could stop shooters like the one in El Paso. Got him to say he was okay with tougher background checks. But he insisted that people have the wrong idea and that, just like drunk driving is about the person, not the car, massacres like El Paso are only about the person, not about guns. Ugh. Me and another attorney were looking at each other, working really hard not to roll our eyes at each other.

Major newspaper published a story about how the unemployment rate is really the fault of all those unemployed people, what with them not having nice suits for interviews and not already having training and experience for entry-level jobs...

White people being assholes to POCs for being POCs... and then pretending that isn't the reason they're being assholes to them.

Similarly (though mildly), people who are more concerned with not having the racist finger pointed at them than they are with stopping actual racism.

Oh yeah, and anyone who manages to make themselves the victim in a tragedy much like the ones this last week... 1000 miles away from the actual shooting with no connection to the place or parties involved.

Sadly, all of these seem to be a weekly occurrence now.

Some kids on Twitter having a meltdown because they considered a drawing of an anthropomorphic toad holding a teenage girl in his arms, both of them fully clothed and not touching anywhere suggestive and only blushing a teensy bit, to be "child porn."

I went for a run this morning listening to music, and White Lines by Mellie Mel came on (the long version), and I was in. The. Zone. It was a good run.

Work, and then cooking I hope. I had big plans to cook yesterday but I hadn't slept well and I eventually collapsed.

Worked all day outdoors. It was hot and sunny but not very intense work. Now that I am showered and clean, I need to go to the grocery store.

Worked on a case in the morning. Case in the early afternoon. Other than that, trying to stay off my feet as much as possible because my foot hurts a lot. Got a good amount of work done. Had some fun on Tumblr and Flightrising. Going to bed really soon since I have to be up early for a hearing in the morning.

Today, I realized misled is not pronounced like missiled. It is miss-led. I have heard misled said out loud but never made the connection to the written word. But I read the word recently and suddenly made the connection.
