Using a substance (alcohol, rohypnol, alien spray) in order to make someone have sex with you when, had they been sober, would have otherwise refused does make a person a rapist. I don't think it's something the writers realised at the time but it's still very disturbing for a lot of people.

Meh. She's gorgeous, and I was pretty eager to like her, particularly as I really liked the character. I haven't been impressed thus far, though, and miss Katie quite a bit.

However, the responses to the new Ruby, much like the responses to the old Ruby, and to Bela, have been pretty virulent. I can understand saying, "The actress doesn't do anything for me," or "I don't like this character," but unfortunately, a significant number of people in the fandom seem to want to spew bile on any actress they don't like. I just wish they'd do the same for the actors they don't like.

I just watched this last weekend. I have to say, I was impressed. I liked the pirate hunter guy and how he was trying his best to act like William Shatner the entire movie. And the girl-on-girl scene with all of the pirates watching and saying things like "ARRR" and "I LOVE BEING A PIRATE". Fucking classic.

122 - I have a great relationship with my brother, who is also one of my best friends. The thought of having sex with him makes me feel sick. That doesn't mean I can't write Uchihacest though. How many times do I have to say 'I like them as a pairing because it's massively fucked up!' The incest is only one of the many many things that makes them a fucked up twisted pairing. And I like reading about twisted relationships. It doesn't mean I want one, hell, it doesn't necessarily mean that I even ship any other incest cases. It just means I ship what I want in that one case, and leave other people to their own shipping.

163 - Yeah, it constantly baffles me. Maybe it's because a large subsection of my real life friends are also into fandom, and my association with them isn't purely fandom based. I think people feel more insecure when their friendships are based solely around fandoms and series. I mean, refer to secret 151. If someone you like has posted a massive rant about a series you enjoy and said I WILL LOSE ALL RESPECT FOR ANYONE WHO LIKES THIS, it kind of puts into context why people say things like that.

141. My cousin/godfather worked on that movie, particularly on the character of Tarzan. And, indeed, his name flies by in the credits so quickly that no one else in the world even notices it's there, but I sure enough do enjoy telling people ^^ I think it's awesome.

Heh. Sometimes I wonder if there are any series out there that people could enjoy without somebody, somewhere, automatically thinking less of them for it.

Well, at any rate, I do think KHR is a great series. I love the characters, the plot keeps me interested (especially the latest arc), the art is gorgeous, and I just have fun reading it. To me, that's all the criteria that matters. No point in trying to justify it past that; in any case, if I only ever stuck to series that were absolutely 100% respected in fandom, I think I'd be pretty miserable.
