Characters you dislike in media you like.

Who are some characters you dislike in media you like. Or media you used to like.


For me, it would include Ted Mosby, Xander Harris, and Severus Snape. There are two that completely ruined media I used to like: Will Hallstead and Booth from Bones.

Weasley twins. They seem cool, I mean they gave Harry the map, but they annoy me to no end, especially in fics.

Marry Watson because I never like killers. I dislike even thief characters, so she had no chance.

Tony Stark. I mostly just dislike is overwhelming presence in movies, I don't mind him in fanfiction.

But I don't dislike him as much as I hate Darcy.

Billy on Stranger Things. I did like how he got used in Season 3, but I won't be sad to see him go.

Ignis stans have completely ruined Ignis for me, which sucks.

Also I seem to be the only person in the entirety of the FFXIV fandom that is completely ambivalent to Estinien? I don't dislike him, but I seriously don't understand the huge amount of love for him, and I don't really ship him with Aymeric, so I have no idea what I'm missing.

stiles on teen wolf. he was an insufferable asshole but i was supposed to think he was 'funny' when he insulted everyone around him constantly.

sabrina on the chilling adventures of sabrina. which i gave up on because i found her so annoyingly stupid and selfish. all the other characters are so much more interesting than her tbh.

tony stark in collaborative movies, i like him in his solo ones because he gets the room he needs to actually work as a character. he's too much of the focus, but without the same room to make him likeable, in avengers movies and it's annoying.

keith on voltron. he was a boring jerk, got everything handed to him on a silver platter without trying, but was the show's golden boy so i had to put up with it metaphorically sucking his dick the entire time.

lance on voltron was also annoying, but at least he got a little better. a little.

Oh god, Booth. He had the potential to be a good character, but it all went downhill so fast.

Steven Universe is easily the worst character in Steven Universe.

Simon on In the Flesh. I felt like everybody loved him because he was in a canon gay pairing and I just did not like him. Even his sad backstory didn't make me feel all that bad for him.

Aunt Lydia on Handmaid's Tale. You're supposed to hate her but even when they tried to give her a backstory where she wasn't as bad (yet) I found it completely cringey.

Vicious on Cowboy Bebop. Usually I'm into bad guy characters in that type of media but he just seemed like such an asshole.

Yukari from Persona 3. She is such a self-centred bitch, I cannot stand her.

Sam. Uncharted 4. Would be first, but I'm not about to put that rat first any where! /being irrational (probably) I'm trying to replay the game right now, but every scene with him gets worse and worse, and I'm not sure I can stand going through the whole game again, even with all the filters.

Max, Black Sails. Just no.

Franklin, GTA V, calling your girlfriend in the middle of a strip club begging her to get back with you after she's moved on to a bigger and better life in not acceptable.

Ryou Bakura, from Yu-Gi-Oh. He either doesn't have a personality/too weak will to be relevant or willing lets a vengeful spirt try to kill his friends on a regular basis, both of which are a no go for me. (also the love he get's from the fandom get's annoying)

Anders, Dragon Age 2. Terrorists are bad.

Eames, Inception. So annoying, and also I hate Tom Hardy...

Tyler on ST:Disco. I sort of lost sympathy for him after they flip flopped on his rape trauma, and he became the endlessly promoted plot device.

As much as I loved Uncharted 4 (and the whole Uncharted series for the most part) I hate Rafe Adler with a passion. Yes, he's the villain and is supposed to be unlikable, but I hate him oh so much.

Are there any famous people you used to love or admire, and then they did something that disappointed you?

Brought to you by Tim Gunn endorsing bloomburg. I don't think this has made me completely stop loving him, but I'm really disappointed and thought he knew better.

Can't think of anyone at the moment, so I'm just going to crash this thread to give an example of someone who I was worried might disappoint me but didn't (positivity for the win!)

I never doubted that Taylor Swift's politics were predominantly left-leaning (because I paid attention to her actions, which were very left-leaning), but I worried for a long time that she was pro-life. I'm a fan, and I knew it would really, really disappoint me if she turned out to be pro-life. So when she finally did straight up say, "Of course I'm pro-choice," I was so happy and relieved.

I think the idea of endorsing Bloomberg is just inherently funny to me for some reason, it just makes me laugh, even though I don't agree with Bloomberg at all.

I used to like Armie Hammer in TMFU until he starred in an oscar bait film where he played an ehebophile and supported some criminal director. I stopped liking him and avoid watching any of his movies since then.

Good videogames to practice Japanese?

Hi gamers! Anyone know any fun, not-too-difficult games that have Japanese audio/text? I want to up my Japanese practice and thought a game would be a good way to do it.

I recently tried Skyrim in Japanese, but I found it a little difficult since you can't pause the speaking and there are so many weird words (i.e. "One-handed orc axe"... something I'd never thought I'd have to look up in the dictionary). A JRPG would be fine, but preferably not something super out-there with made up fantasy words. Or a nice, relaxing simulation game where I can run around at my own pace.

Anyone have any recommendations?
