You want to change the world? Make a difference? Then get out in you community and do some good. Volunteer for charity. Tutor underprivileged kids. Do something. There are resources for people who want to help people and change the way things work. You just have to look.

And the ends certainly do not justify the means. Mass murder for the sake of a "utopia", where everyone is only good simply because if they don't they're struck dead on the spot? Not my style.

And thanks for mentioning the taste of alcohol. I don't get it, either. People think it's some sort of moral thing why I don't drink.. it's not, it's just that I really, really don't like the taste!

So... On the one hand, as a lesbian who happens to be in fandom, I feel your pain. But on the other hand, you realize you are telling them the exact same thing you're sick of hearing? Their bisexuality is a lie? For attention? Not real bisexuality?

You still don't get to decide that for other people. However they come to their realizations -- which you acknowledge but don't seem to understand may be a phrasing quibble -- their sexuality is something they know best. NOT you.

My problem with this secret -- having only seen/read Death Note, not Geass btw -- is that Light doesn't actually want to change the world for good ends. He starts out with that -- in the first couple of chapters. But after that he sets his goal as becoming the God of the new world, not for really changing it for the good, with ends justifying the means. The plot deliberately takes that turn, showing him as a sociopath, once L is introduced -- because he kills the guy calling him out, and other innocents, simply because they defy him. He becomes what he wants to murder, something Ryuuk points out specifically (Iirc it was something like "Then the only bastard left will be you"), which means he would never be capable of changing the world, because he doesn't want to get that far then destroy himself; he wants to get that far, then rule. He kills the big-name criminals with heart attacks, but gets rid of weaker people, pettier crimes, with other methods so that they won't be tied into "Kira's goals" as advertised but he can still get rid of the people he disapproves of.

I'm not one to go "oh how can you look up to him!!" because people can admire or dislike whatever they want, but putting him as someone who wanted to create a new beautiful world without crime is buying into his delusions of grandeur, not what's explicitly shown/said in the manga itself.

This. As a lesbian in fandom I get frustrated with people gushing about how they're totally bi and ~*~understand the gay plight~*~ because they're hot for some digital ink on a screen, but at the same time...it's not my place to call them out on it. I may think to myself that some of them are just excited to be part of this cool new community of edginess or whatever, but I will never know which ones are just caught up in the excitement and which have come to a real realization about their sexuality. So I bite my tongue and try to be humble and quiet. In five years, they'll either understand that it's possible to be "gay for" a fictional character without actually being gay, or they'll still be lesbian or bisexual.

Japanese doesn't use dipthongs between its morae, so you pronounce each morae in a word. Yow-ee Anglicizes it because it puts a dipthong into the yao, making it yow instead of ya-oh.

Correctly said, it should be ya-oh-ee.

Oh god, this again.

Words change when they're adopted into other languages. That is and always has been the nature of language. I know how "yaoi" is pronounced in Japanese, and if I'm speaking Japanese, I'll pronounce it that way. "Ya-o-i" as a three syllable word just feels way too awkward and affected in English.
