I last drew slash fanart 18 years ago. At that time, if you searched for gay couple references, the majority of what you could find was sexual. I recently started drawing again and discovered that the majority of reference photos were people just being happy and in love, getting married, walking with their kids, that kind of thing.

It was really lovely to see and it made me really happy. What a wonderful change in the world. :)

Louise Fletcher deserves so much praise for her work on Deep Space Nine. Winn is probably one of the most terrifying villains in all of Star Trek.

I think that multishippers can't be trusted and can't write anything worth shit--if you can't commit to your ship and would so easily break it up what's even the point, how can you call yourself a shipper?

I never got into Harry Potter. I tried both the books and the movies and they just never clicked with me. I always felt a little sad that I couldn’t get into it because all my friends loved Harry Potter and I always felt a little left out when they would talk about it. After reading JK Rowling’s tweets, I’m so glad I never got into Harry Potter, but I feel so bad for my friends because they really looked up to and respected her and they just feel so let down by her.

I'm 16.

I hate the purity politics in fandom, and I hate that it's mostly people my own age doing it. I hate that they call people our age "literal children" and act like we can't handle even being near porn or "bad dynamics" or whatever tf. I hate that they literally hunt people down and scour their entire online presence to find "receipts" to eviscerate them with. I hate that some older people are doing this now too.

In the desperate attempt to make fandom "safe," they've made it terrifying and Orwellian, and I hate it.

I just want to enjoy my "gross" ships and smut in peace!

Much as I loved Hugo Weaving as V in V for Vendetta, I feel like they missed a chance to cast a Black or Pakistani or Indian actor, preferably one who was also British. Or maybe a trans man, not that he couldn’t be both a POC and trans.

I think an Irish or Eastern European actor would’ve worked too, for a British audience, but it wouldn’t have had the same impact for Americans. Since the audience never sees enough of V to determine his race or ethnicity, I guess it doesn’t matter from an in-universe standpoint, but still.

I only watch old favorites these days. I just want things that I know make me happy. I want to escape into worlds I know and love. Happy, optimistic worlds that may go to some dark places but that I know have a happy ending.

I've always loved Babylon 5. I've never been able to buy into the painting of the Narn and Centauri as the same and G'Kar and Londo as equal, though. They just weren't equivalent in terms of the level of wrong in their actions, and if the series were remade today I don't think that would hold up.

Say what you will about season 7 of DS9. It had its flaws. But Kira was always my favorite character, and her story arc in S7 was perfect. Having her go to Cardassia to teach them how to run a resistance was great. And her getting to have a moment where she helps Damar to realize that what his people did to hers was wrong and that Cardassia needed to reckon with that if it was to move forward as a people was some powerful writing.

I thought Sanderson's Wheel of Time books were better than the last several Jordan ones. Jordan had the same problem GRRM has developed. Plot and characters got too convoluted. I don't know if Jordan would have been able to pull and ending off. Not convinced Martin will be able to either.

They recently put 'Hill Street Blues' up on Hulu (yay! loved that show as a kid!), and I am utterly delighted with undercover Detectives J.D. LaRue and Neil Washington. Neil constantly calls J.D 'lover' and 'babe', and their conversations are so full of innuendo.

Same for Officers Bobby Hill and Andy Renko - they were in a shoot out and both got hurt, and they were angry at each other for a while, but then the Captain forces them into a room together, and they're both crying and saying 'I can't do this without you' and how the other is the only partner for them, hugging....

The slash potential is insane, and there are only *twenty* HSB stories at AO3!

I'm amazed at how judgy, pearl-clutchy, and downright shitty some people can be here in Fandom Secrets every time there's one of those "what's your wacky headcanons" posts in the Off Topic section. Y'all getting so apoplectic over it really seem to be missing the point of "wacky headcanons", its "wacky" (and anon) for a reason.

I still don’t fully understand what the hell happened in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. I recently reread the manga (and xxxHolic too) in an effort to understand it, but all rereading did was piss me off because boy did I hate the endings for both.

No real pattern for me. Sometimes because there's a lot of chemistry that doesn't vibe as siblings for me (the Winchesters in SPN, the Petrellis in Heroes). Sometimes it's because there are no other ships I find interesting.

Is it just me or do serets 4 and 8 scream SJW? Wtf are these fandom friends that police everything, write 'undesirables' lists and bring real life issues into fandom? Why would anyone to even listen to them?

So JK Rowling has revealed herself to be an ableist piece of shit who thinks that people are overmedicated, that depression and such can JUST be talked out and that things are "overdiagnosed" instead of new science leading to better, more accurate diagnoses. Anyone who supports her still and thinks she's not in the wrong is fucking trash.

Are you happy with the ending?

I thought the start of the season was a bit slow, and it got reaaaal confusing for a bit there, but I absolutely love the finale and it satisfied me completely. I'm incredibly relieved the show didn't run long enough to go off the rails like some other similar shows. (Lost, Twin Peaks.)
