I love classical music, it's my favourite genre of music. But I do not understand why the hell there's a fandom for it. At all. I also wish that some classical music fans would stop giving it a bad name by being obnoxious pretentious wankers. Oi.

At first I thought I liked Social Media fic (where the characters are on Twitter and such). Then I read more of it and thought that maybe I didn't really like it after all?

Now I know the truth: I only enjoy Social Media fic when most of the social media posts are written from an outsider perspective.

Viktor, Yuuri, and Yuri's fans trying to figure out what the heck is going on with them during the events of YoI? Yes, please.

The Avengers shitposting and referencing memes in a blatantly OoC way just for the sake of "humor"? No, thanks.

I think the guy who plays WWX in CQL is cute and certainly attractive, but he doesn't even hit my top-ten most bangable characters/actors on that show.

I'm sorry that Kanye West is struggling with mental illness (and hope he makes a full recovery) but I'm not surprised that its gotten as bad as it has lately. Kanye seems to have had issues for some time, and has been getting worse, and there's nothing anyone can do about it (barring something awful happening).

I tell my fans that Lucifer is not a show that sounds interesting to me, but the truth is that I actually quite like the concept of the show and would most likely watch and enjoy it if it wasn't for the main romance.
I just don't like the "thousands of years old powerful being falls in love with a human" trope unless written very well and in this case it... doesn't look like it is from what I've seen. (My friends all OTP them.)

For the most part I don't like or care about media aimed at kids. ATLA is one of the few exceptions. It really is just that good. Few things, whether for kids or adults, can match the quality of Avatar.

I like dark media as well as happy stuff, but I don't like realistic dystopias. I don't like, for example climate change-based dystopias. I want my depressing or horrific or dark media to be as unrealistic as possible. I don't want to spend my time thinking about the possibility this could actually happen.

I'm tired of heterosexuality in media. I don't care anymore how silly that makes me sound; I'm an old, tired gay and I just don't care about all this het shit anymore. I can't muster even the slightest bit of excitement over a het ship, and I lose interest immediately as soon as even a hint of a hetero romantic subplot comes up in anything.

Gay romance? Yes! No romance at all? Sure thing! Hets even barely flirting? Nope, I'm done.

You can imagine how limited my media intake is these days.

Zuko/Katara is a NOTP for me. But the reason isn't Aang/Katara. I don't mind her with Aang, but I tend to imagine them breaking up, getting older, then getting back together. I don't read fics or obsess either. But Zuko/Mai is my ATLA OTP, and they are sacrosanct to me. I won't ship either of them with anyone else.

I still have issues with the ATLA ending even all these years later. So Aang had no problem with defeating and even killing or being responsible for the death of all the other villains and various mooks. He's certainly the cause of Zhao's death. But suddenly he can't kill Ozai? I mean, removing Ozai's bending and making him live was probably a worse punishment in the end. But it still bugs me that he was so hypocritical.

Zhao is still my favorite ATLA villain. Probably mostly for shallow reasons. Jason Isaacs has a voice of sex. But also because Zhao was genuinely evil and creepy and great. Yes, Azula and Ozai and others were awesome too. But Zhao is still #1 for me.

I like CGI. I also like practical effects. I think this competition between them and the assumption that practical effects are always better is stupid. Good practical effects are good. Good CGI are good. In scifi and fantasy personally I think you need both to really create a fantastical world that looks different from ours and epic. And I think there are plenty of examples of bad practical effects, so they can be misused just as much as CGI can be.

I love ATLA so much. I really don't love Korra. I think there was at least a bit of a quality dip. But it is hard for me to tell how much because I'm honestly not interested in the aesthetic of Korra. ATLA was an aesthetic that worked for me so well. Korra was just completely different, and steampunk is not my thing at all. So am I meh on Korra because of that or because it really is meh? IDK.

I unironically love many of the music changes that 4Kids did to their dubs. The music used for Yu-Gi-Oh and Shaman King was the best.

My biggest pet peeve for OCs isn't that they exist in fic or even that they sometimes take center stage.

It's when the canon has a very clear naming scheme/pattern/type and the OC's name is completely jarring for no good, plot-related reason. If your Naruto OC is named Heather or your white American Hogwarts transfer student is named Akane then I'm going to judge you so, so hard.

It's just so wrong.

A:TLA is so hyped everywhere, I put off watching it because I knew I'd be disappointed. Well, I finally watched it and I was right.

It's not like I dislike it; my expectations were just too high. It doesn't help that I don't care for the artstyle.

I'm digging the ATLA secrets so I'll jump in.

Not Secret: ATLA is a much better show than LoK.

Secret: However, I think season 3 of Korra is on par and occasionally exceeds ATLA. I think Zaheer is the best villain of the entire franchise. I also think Korra's S3 and S4 arcs are much better than the entirety of Aang's arc.

OMG THERE'S A FIC FOR MY RAREPAIR OTP. I've been periodically checking the AO3 tag for this fandom for 2+ years hoping one would appear someday and I was starting to think it would never happen. It's super short and I'm almost afraid to read it but I'm hoping it's good and I can leave a glowing review and try to encourage the author to write more for the ship. Just OMG.

Anyone else want to talk about anything they're stupidly excited about?

I just somehow don't love all the ships?
Mamoru/Usagi is okay, but give me Haruka/Usagi, Seiya/Usagi and Mamoru/Setsuna instead!
Haruka/Michiru? Sure. But how about Haruka/Makoto instead or *points up to Haruka/Usagi*
Even the most popular femslash ship aka Rei/Usagi doesn't win against Rei/Minako for me (that might be the manga's fault, though)?
I don't know why I'm doing freaking Sailor Moon "wrong"????

I guess it's a relief that I at least like Kunzite/Zoisite?

I haven't seen all of ATLA because it's just sort of 'meh' to me (I think I got through the first and maybe second season?), but the AangKatara ship bothers me SO MUCH.

The age difference is just... horrifyingly squicky to me. He's 12 and she's like... 15, 16? If they were 20 and 24 I don't think I'd care, but 12 and 16 are two different life points for me and it brings me back to this girl I went to HS with who was dating (and got pregnant by) her 11 year old boyfriend and I just want to hurl like I did then because WTF???
