I personally think that sexuality is fluid and if one discovers they're interested in the same sex, doesn't mean that they'll necessarily be confined to the category of gay forever. When it comes to sexuality I think that a lot of people, however they ID themselves have a very 'identity needs to be confined, fixed, and strictly categorized' attitude.

146. See, that's the reason that I'm always wary of getting involved in fandom and tend to lurk. I'm not really comfortable with the amount of hate that goes out to fictional characters. I love Torchwood so much, but all the hate some of the characters get just makes me want to like them MORE.

110. I've recently decided that I actually like banners. They're not mandatory for me, but I don't mind seeing them. (Most of the ones I've seen are pretty damn good, besides.)

112. Sometimes I'm the same way- I wish I could find a Het pairing that interests me. Just because. (So far, I'll only read Robin/Raven Het from the 'Teen Titans' toon.)Other than that, I'm really not interested because, like you said, I get Het from everywhere else: books, movies, telly, commercials/ads, etc.

I've found that I'm not really intersted in canon!pairings though. With subtext, the author can make up an assortment of ways to get the characters together. If the pairing is canon...well then, I already friggin' know, don't I?

117. I've loved Japanese culture since I was a kid (looong before the anime boom), but lately I seem to be really into English and French culture.

(I've never been obsessive btw. Japan is great, but it's not the Promised Land some fans seem to think it is. It's a country- and as such, it has flaws just like any other country.)

What many fandoms seem to need is a gen kink meme. (I have no idea what you'd call that sort of thing.) Lots of people - including people who like slash/het/shippyness - seem to want to see more genfic, and it might be a good way to get different ideas out in the open and see what other fans are interested in. At least it would be a chance for fandom to break people's brains in a nonsexual way for a change.

110. I don’t mind banners. What I hate is when authors intersperse manips or fanart throughout the story itself. It’s distracting.

116. ITA, except I pegged her for a Mary Sue in 4x09 when she moved that dresser or whatever it was back in the asylum. I figured she was going to turn out to be one of Azazel’s kids who ‘miraculously’ got misplaced and thus didn’t get killed in Cold Oak. Imagine my surprise when that turned out to be infinitely less lame than what they actually did with the character.

143. I’m not in the House fandom, but I watch the show now and again. I’ve heard people don’t like her, but don’t know why. I think she’s interesting. I actually like everyone on the new team. 114 - Heh, if an anime has a catchy opening theme, I tend to want to watch it as well. XD Kare Kano was really good, although it didn't really have a proper ending, per se. You definitely want to check out the manga for that one. Paradise Kiss was all right, but the manga was much better, I think. I haven't checked out the other series that you have posted. ^_^;;
