120. You win for the Mylar portion of this secret. \o/

(Anonymous) 2008-12-14 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
145. It's just an excuse for bishonen
lol. As for the amount of blonds, it's because the characters are based on stereo-types and the Japanese stereo-type most foreigners to be blonde.

171. If it makes you feel better, these were the original designs->http://i36.tinypic.com/2i1jgcp.jpg

150. ...Wow, that's lame.

167. in b4 wank?

172. That's just CLAMP's style. Their chars tend to look similar, yes.

174. Because, of course, that is all women's fault. Of course. In b4 wank?

[identity profile] gaviotas.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
172. Not to be wanky or anything -- since, you know, I like CLAMP -- but their characters tend to have the same formula.

I just assume they're really stupid. You want a fandom and you leave nothing to google... FAIL.

I don't see why stuff like that has to be a secret anyway.

[identity profile] dropsofgleam.livejournal.com 2008-12-14 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
119. Considering I've met people who want Haruhi to be *murdered in cold blood* for not being a sweetie all the time... (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/JustBugsMe/SuzumiyaHaruhiNoYuutsu) huh.

170. Can't say I ever was thrilled with AsuCaga, but I do understand your viewpoint. That was one great OT4 and adding Meyrin would've made it a great OT5 yeeeesh.

174. Iv'e met several males who write romantic fiction. And female authors who don't write romance. So, no. CRY MOAR.

148. I literally just finished BioShock yesterday. I'm still heartbroken over the betrayal (and I knew allt he spoilers). I loved the funny Irish bastard. All throughout the final segment of the game, I kept thinking, "I wish Atlas were here. He'd know what to do. He'd help me." Alas, noooooo. I'm stuck with the (arguably pretty awesome) Tenanbaum and the smug Frank fucking Fountaine.

116. I couldn't agree with you more. It would have been kind of cool if she got her sparkly angel power back and then decided to go evil and kick everyone's ass. or it would have been better had she never been there in the first place

119. I stopped watching Naruto years ago but the only reason I'd start again is to see how Sakura's grown. She had so much potential but fell flat when I was watching.

123. Twlight/HSM CROSSOVER FIC. I haven't read/watched either of them BUT NOW I DEMAND IT.

154. I would totally watch an entire evening of Must See TV where Earl and Darnell just showed up randomly in Heroes, 30 Rock, etc. and said "Hey Earl..." "Hey Crabman..." and then the rest of the storyline went on as if nothing happened.

108. this

146. sorry, secret op, not everyone does it and it's arrogant to presume we're all like you. we are quiet because we'd rather watch the rest of you tear each other apart. maybe you'll leave and the fandom will calm down again.

155. product placement! thanks for the community plug. let me guess, you're a moderator.

162. these type of secrets are getting to the point I don't believe them. I believe the secret makers are doing it because they are trying to outdo each other on the squick meter.

164. yaoi fans were so desperate for an anime to justify their OMG BUTTSECKS that they clung to Gravitation. you're right. it's horrible.

167. we all have our deep dark desires. too many people are frightened of them and envy those who aren't. word up, secret maker.

173. tell you what, secret maker, you show me where homophobia is no longer celebrated in real life and I'll be a bit more sympathetic to you. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten sick and tired of hearing the het fans go on about how it's not 'real life' that all characters are gay and how a character is really heterosexual because they looked at a girl in the show and hung out with them. that MUST mean they were heterosexual!

OMG they didn't say they liked girls but they DIDN'T say they liked girls, it's possible right? RIGHT??!?!?!?

if it works for you, it works for us too. you can't use it as your argument and tell us we can't.

since real life really does celebrate heterosexuality and homosexuality is still minimized and downplayed, I get really tired of hearing about your fucking entitlement issues in fandom.

174. so getting guys getting fucked up the ass bothers you? you might want to examine why.

173 OP

(Anonymous) 2008-12-14 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you for proving such a lovely example of what I headdesk to.
I like slash, and if there are slash suggestions, fine with it. But when you get people saying someone HAS TO BE GAY and saying that the het shippers for that character are just homophobic, you're watering down the ugliness of homophobia. I've been on both sides of the isle in quite a few fandoms, and there's a whole lot less vocalization from het side.

Homophobia is fast becoming the new Godwin's Law for a lot of fandoms.

112. My OTPs are never canon either, and more than half of them have been het. You'll find a likeable canon pairing eventually. :]

115: I don't know who this person is, but... hot clothes.

119. I like those two characters for the exact same reason.

133. M-my childhood ;_____;

138. I've done that before, with ads. It doesn't make sense ot me either. D:

144. I think some of the questions in that are bloody ridiculous. I'm in tenth grade now, and I don't even remember any of that stuff. My younger sister in seventh grade doesn't know either, so don't feel bad.

145. IAWTSC - the biggest reason it's on my flist is so my sister can access the stuff. But I do like how mature they've approached the fanart subject.

148. Bioshock scares me to be honest, and that was me playing the mute demo. With three other people in the room. ;_;

160. I have a friend who is EXACTLY the same, and she even admits to not really thinking of me as a friend (and she treats her boyfriend like shit too). Nerd cliques? More often than you think, especially at all-girls' schools.

165. Somehow, I almost feel the same way. /hopeful belief that it's not true

167. Fantasy =/= Reality

174. I agree with this, and I'M a slash fan. There is a line where it's just too much, you know?

116 - Having sex with Dean wasn't even what made her a Sue--sex with Dean is pretty common. It was the Titanic-style hand print and all that sparkly angel business that did it. Dude. Flaws, woman, do you have them?

119 - I loved Haruhi. I don't have any problem with Sakura either. I actually would call them both pretty strong examples of female characters because (OMG) they actually develop. They are flawed people. They learn to be somewhat better, but still flawed people. Complimenting it too much feels a little bit like giving out head pats for something that should be a given, but it isn't clearly, and I definitely appreciate that about both of them.

150 - You might want to watch your grammar a little more closely when you're claiming to be superior to other people.

173 & 174 - I cry a single crystal tear for both of you. You can decide how to split it between yourselves.

173

(Anonymous) 2008-12-14 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
174 can have it. Either that, or a coupon for a prostitute.

I just wrote min in a fit of anger after getting a comment a fic that the idea of the pairing was vile and horrifying (of two canonally swing characters (they don't say if they're gay or otherwise)). Yeah.

171. But if you can't rip yourself off, who CAN you rip off??

173. Maybe it's because having a canonically gay character suddenly renounce the realization that s/he defied the "straight until proven otherwise" thing that so utterly pervades human society comes across as a denial of non-straight sexualities, a "correction" of sorts.

I can see where they come from, but honestly, as long as it's convincing (in either case), that's all that matters to me.

174. Except "romance" also includes het (and even more rarely, yuri) and shameless OC or Mary-Sue pairings, and is certainly not limited to "buttfucking"; you should have specified "slash" or "yaoi" or "m/m" or any of those in your example search if that was the point you were trying to make. Librarian says you fail at searching.

(Also, women aren't the only ones who write romance and men aren't the only ones who write action/adventure. Get the fuck off your generalization horse.)

Re: 173

(Anonymous) 2008-12-14 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that's absurd- I was using the example (and evidently failed) to point out that it's just as absurd to have someone "wake up gay". Neither one happens.

I was just sick of being told in a fandom where Slash Comes First, my daring to take a character who has a history of heterosexual relationships and put him....in a heterosexual relationship is VILE AND DISGUSTING. When the slashers start sounding like the Prop 8 supporters I had to deal with, I get annoyed.

109 - YES THIS. I hate it when people say something sucks because they don't like it. I honestly try not to do that. It's one thing to actually be able to come up with reasons as to why you think something is rubbish, and it's another thing to diss something cause it doesn't appeal to you. I mean, I don't like Gossip Girl, but I'm not going to say it sucks because I don't like it (I'm actually quite sure that it's a pretty good show when looking at it objectively, but it personally bores me to tears).

130 - Hello, agreed.
