I love you! I just discovered podfic myself, and its VERY nice. The only problem is that it ends up on the Recently Played playlist on my IPod, so I have to remember to quickly skip over it when other people are in the car with me...

NO ONE WILL EVER READ THIS, BUT...

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
120. I like when the more "sensetive" guy tops, too. Wilson's best as a top, especially.

139. My...my soul just broke. D:

143. I like Thirteen! I mean, she's not my favourite or whatever, but I like her. I don't get all the hate, either. Although it does annoy me that all her character is now is "BISEXUAL WOMAN WITH HUNTINGTON'S." They were developing her fine, but now it seems like that's all her screentime consists of. :/

166. Is someone holding a gun to your head and making you watch it? Who the fuck cares if you don't like it? I don't like reality TV, but you don't see me telling the fans of those shows everything I find wrong with them. I'm so sick of people refusing to stay in their own sandboxes if they can't get along.

168. It never will. House will forever be alone and miserable, as will everyone else on the show. Which is why I'm worried that Cuddy's getting a baby now - I can't shake the feeling that something terrible is going to happen to either her or the kid, 'cause happiness is always fleeting on House, M.D. D:

173. Yeah, thanks for making me feel worse. I already feel immature because of the fact that I'm bored by het, it's good to know I'm right to feel paranoid that everyone sees me as an annoying fanbrat.

[identity profile] arwydd.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
133 - .... o_O wtf, indeed.

145 - I have wondered about that. Granted, my only exposure to Hetalia is through f!s, but the images seem to be 99.9% composed of blond-haired, blue-eyed pretty-boys. How are they supposed to represent different countries when they all look like their from the same little mountain village?? (I'm genuinely confused here. What happened to the supposed diversity we have around the world?)

155 - !! I had no idea this community existed. And now I can actually, in good faith, start reading Torchwood fic! :DD (I was scared off a while back because all I ever found of Jack/Ianto... but I wanted stuff with Owen! Or some sweet Gwen/Rhys! D:)

174 - I identify with this secret so very much (hahaha ironically - I am woman!) Oh, how I miss the days when DBZ fandom was alive and well... For that very reason! I lived for the next "Evil is coming to destroy Earth/the universe and only Goku and friends can stop it!!" epic story by the likes of The Sh33p, Seawasp, Ash the Wanderer, Chelsee, and all of their ilk... *sigh* Why can't we just have fun stuff like that anymore? :/

Paradise Kiss is awesome, OP. Go for it. Also pick up Nana if you have the time, for it is made of win.

[identity profile] floriatosca.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
112. I hope you have better luck with your het pairings de choice when you find them (there are some really cute ones out there) than I did. Admittedly, it is nice to get more overt canonical expressions of affection that you don't have to decode, for once, but the writers can still screw you over in so many ways... Or maybe I just have bad luck.

Het pairing #1: some cute moments, an implied one night stand, the guy dies.
Het pairing #2: very cute in an odd way, and eventually canonical, but they're elderly human side characters in a fandom with ambiguously gay angels and therefore don't get much fandom attention.
Het pairing #3: they got more ship tease than a lot of slash does (he made her lunch and quoted song lyrics at her, although there was a non-romantic justification for this in the script), but then she went back to crushing on the main character and he went back to being comic relief.
Het pairing #4: a happy, functional couple written by Joss Whedon. You know how this sort of thing goes.

Icon love!

174. LOLOL Yeah, in the old days there weren't any girls involved. Women are totally new to fandom! Those chicks writing kirk/spock slash in the late 60s/early 70s totally didn't exist. BRAND NEW IDEA.

174

[identity profile] hodgy-thesock.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, troll secret.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
173. The thing is, most gay people know they're gay because they've grown up in a hetero world and they've realized they don't fit into that social construct. Being gay is not usually innately known. There is typically a period of discovery. So, the idea of a gay man randomly trying het sex and thinking "oops I was wrong! I like pussy!" isn't as likely to happen as a straight guy realizing and coming to terms with his gayness.

I wouldn't say I'd be automatically opposed to a story like that, BUT it would have to be written fantastically well, and it would have to be written in a context where the man has not ever had to consider his sexuality before.

[identity profile] joyciel.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
1) OMG ME TOO!!!
19) You HAVE to introduce me to people you know because everyone I know thinks Haruhi is a godsend to anime or something
44) SERIOUSLY
64) Gravitation was horrible, like wth man o.O but good, that it helped you

[identity profile] worrisomeheart.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
116. I loved Anna. I admit the angel thing was a bit cliche and poorly done but I think she was the victim of too much potential and not enough time to work it out. I would have prefered her to have fallen as some sort of direct disobeying of a rule and not just that she was discontent. I honestly think she would have been received better if the big reveal had taken place over a longer period of time.

[identity profile] king-of-dunces.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
@120:

How is it unpopular!? Especially with the curare scene! And when Mohinder launched himself at Sylar and beat his head into the ground! Bitch is feisty.

I love all of the potential forms of Mylar x) Mohinder on top, Sylar on top, crazy telekinetic BDSM, power struggle, SPINAL TAPS, etc., etc. 's all good.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Mmmm Mylar.

Although, I have to admit, as hot as I think Mylar is, I am die hard for Matt/Mohinder.

Mylar is crazy hot angry sex. House of M is all about the romance.

[identity profile] elfinpiper.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
127. That scene is very romantic. And sparkly.

139. I liked him *as much as*.

174. LMFAO

[identity profile] floriatosca.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
I find "who would win in a fight" and "who tops" both to be interesting for a time, but less fascinating than the amount of energy dedicated to them would suggest. I prefer essay questions, like "What if Arya Stark fell through a transdimensional portal into the Metal Gear Solid world (at some point in the late 1960s or 1970s) and met Big Boss?" I don't know where that puts me on the fandom gender spectrum.

152: I would go "OMG LAURIE?" but I just saw her last week and she has her shit together more than I do.

Lol! False alarm thar!

123 - Aw, I liked HSM3! (HSM4? Wha? Non-existent, yo!)

125 - For a split second, I seriously didn't recognize RPattz. Nice secret there! I've never seen a secret come out of a character's nose before... *LOL* Though I really don't think the fangirls will squee over it. To be honest, I don't even think they'll remember it, or if they do, they won't remember who composed it. They'll just listen to the song on repeat without ever looking at the screen. They'll be too busy daydreaming of sparkly Meyerpires.

129 - What is that from? Is it Gira Gira? I actually like Gira Gira, and I'm thrilled I recognized him from Bambino! and Zettai Kareshi, but I don't know any of his other roles.

137 - Hey, fellow girl FF fan! I don't give a shit if other FF fans know I'm a girl. Hell, I've cosplayed Songstress Yuna and gotten COMPLIMENTS for it (for the first time in my life!) I think the FF fandom(s) have more a concentration of girls than a lot of other video games, so there's nothing to be ashamed of. You will be pleasantly surprised about being taken seriously. I admit, I kind of want to shout-out to a lot of the gamers: hey, I write walkthroughs, want to edit strategy guides, and button mash harder than you do! but in the end, I realize it doesn't matter. If they can't take me seriously because I game and have tits, then they're not worth my time. And unless you want to hook up with the guys in the fandom, why do you care what they MIGHT think you look like? You're judging THEM, too.

165 - I think you should watch/read Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend). The idea of the perfect man being a robot is a core theme of that series, and how it resolves is quite nice, too. The manga is quite different than the drama series though, and I recommend the drama series (it's subtitled; check d-addicts.com) more.

173 - I mostly agree with you. I'm not into slash and don't seek it out, but I accept its existence, which is a lot more than I could say for my attitude several years ago. Thankfully, I've found that if I don't push my view on others, they won't push their view on me, and we all co-exist quite happily in the same fandom. I might not have "as a big a 'ship" as the yaoi (most of my fandoms are anime/manga) ones do, but I'm still satisfied with (almost) every review I get. I don't think I've ever been called a homophobe even though NONE of my fics ever feature yaoi/shonen-ai pairings in the least. I'm grateful for that, and don't want to jinx it.

174 - I don't think women have ruined fandom, but HELL, I'm biased, being a woman that writes and enjoys romance fics. But I love action/adventure fics too-- I've just found from experience (in trying to write and reading others' fics) that they're MUCH harder to write, and it's harder to satisfy a regular reader of action/adventure than it is to satisfy your average romance reader. But YMMV.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Compared to Gira Gira, I preffered his acting in Iryu a lot more.

I ship Athrun/Cagalli to the point where I gave up on Destiny after I heard that ship was sunk. (True, I didn't like it as much as SEED anyway, but the Asucaga was the final straw).

Anyway...I shipped it for them, but now you have revealed a whole new awesome aspect to the pairing. And I'm inspired to write fic involving the ruling of everything. >D Mwahaha.

153. I DOUBT YOU'RE GOING TO READ THIS FAR BACK

BUT I DO THAT TOO

I COULD HAVE WRITTEN THIS SECRET IN MY SLEEP.

AND NOW I WANT TO BE FRIENDS WITH YOU, WHOEVER YOU ARE. ;_;

LIES AND SLANDER. I READ THIS FAR BACK.

I WILL TOTALLY BE FRIENDS WITH YOU, COMRADE!

I dunno if you were serious, but I'm adding you anyway ^_^

Heterophobia. Heterophobia. Het-er-o-phobia.

Nope, any way you say it is still fucking ridiculous.

Jackass.

(Anonymous) 2008-12-15 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
Not the OP, nor am I trying to pick a fight or anything, but it's an apt enough term. Slash is so unbelievably prevalent in fandom, to the point that a good chunk of them honestly loathe heterosexual pairings (and female characters on the whole, actually...unless they're paired harmlessly with other girls), that it does sort of have the same feel as homophobia.

125: Aww, crap. I didn't even think of that... dammit.

131: You may be on to something... I don't know if I should be running in the opposite direction, or first in line to see it.

163: 's alright. I had to explain it to my sister in minute detail, and she still doesn't make the connection. I do wish I lived in a world where I could watch GoF and whenever someone says Barty Crouch I'd hear Tennant yell, "No, I'm the Doctor!" and, oh, I dunno, he explains that the Dark Mark was some anomaly from some backfiring space stuff off the TARDIS... dorky, but very hilarious in my head. :D

[identity profile] theorygirl.livejournal.com 2008-12-15 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
114. Yeah, I've gotten into plenty of series just because I liked the openings. Mirumo de Pon, Ojamajo Doremi, Love Hina, Cosmic Baton Girl Comet-san, among others.
