But really kind of not, because Dr. Manhattan didn't really learn about humanity, he relearned. IDK WHAT I JUST SAID BUT IT SOUNDED SMART SO THERE YOU GO

107. I agree that vaginas are not clown cars, and they shouldn’t have their own TV shows since they don’t do anything but have an assload of kids, but I think you’re over judgmental douchebag.

121. I didn’t get to see this season (had a job that prevented me from seeing the first half, so I never got into it) but this secret makes me sad because it sounds like there’s not a lot of Matt, and Matt was pretty much the reason I kept watching through the second season. I’m starting to think I shouldn’t even bother with the third season.

131. She’ll always be my favorite Spice Girl.

132. A Temeraire secret? I LOVE YOU GUYS.

141. I love Carlin and I love you.

ns!3. I lol’d at the picture captions. Also, <3.

ns!7. AAHAAAHAAAHAAA! Oh man, AWESOME.

I'm starting to think that Supernatural is one of the craziest fandoms I've ever heard of, and it's all because of this comm. Huh.

121 SPOILERS FOR HEROES UP THROUGH CHAPTER 3

[identity profile] saeva.livejournal.com 2008-12-28 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
"121. I didn’t get to see this season (had a job that prevented me from seeing the first half, so I never got into it) but this secret makes me sad because it sounds like there’s not a lot of Matt, and Matt was pretty much the reason I kept watching through the second season. I’m starting to think I shouldn’t even bother with the third season."

CHAPTER TWO: GENERATIONS

I can't say much about chapter two, because I've only read through the Wiki (I refuse to watch for virtue of headdesk) after giving up post-ep 3. So, I can't compare C2 to C3. But.

CHAPTER THREE: VILLAINS

I can say, from watching it, Matt is one of the central characters of the chapter and gets almost the amount of screentime that Peter or Claire do. His abilities expand again. He has a vision quest, where he learns about one possible future for himself, but it involves reforming a current "villain" Daphne (who is adorably awesome and my favorite new character introduction). Much of his plotline from there is based on that -- trying to help/reform Daphne, who's being blackmailed, because in his vision they were in love, even married with children. This intersects his storylines with Hiro and Ando's storyline (and as much as I used to fast forward over Hiro scenes in Chapter One, the duo has grown on me and I actually like them now) in really cool and interesting ways, and Matt's responsible for a lot of it. He also grows up some and realizes he can't always charge in and be the hero, sometimes he has to let people save themselves.

All in all, Matt's a huge part of the Chapter Three: Villains arc, to the point that his ability to manipulate thoughts is a *key* part in stopping one of the major villains of the chapter. Best yet, there's no indication he'll be put on the backburner any time soon and a lot of indication that he, along with Daphne, Ando and Hiro, will be a force of serious good in the next chapter.

There's also some awesome Sylar stuff which goes back to a year earlier to show, exactly, how he became the monster he did instead of staying Gabriel Gray (and there's a promise of soon meeting his father). I don't know if you like Sylar at all, but he's a ton more interesting this season.

... I really need a Matt icon.

[identity profile] annwyd.livejournal.com 2008-12-26 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
107. You know, in theory I'm all for small families and creeped out by people who can keep having huge ones despite knowing how fucked up the world is by overpopulation...but in practice, there's something about the language people use to condemn people with large families that creeps me out. It's alternately dehumanizing ("litters"), misogynistic ("she thinks her vagina is a clown car lololol"), or both.

111. ...sob. I usually wait to get video games, but I picked up Persona 4 today in hopes of avoiding spoilers.

134. I actually haven't tried to read Hetalia, because I don't really like the art style and something about the way the concept is handled turns me off, but I feel like I'm kind of in the same boat. I love anthropomorphic personifications. I wish Hetalia was more interesting to me.

141. Oh my God. Do we need a PSA already?

159. So enjoying a cheesy and stereotypical show makes you a bad fan now? Whatever.

(Also, I don't care how vapid it is, the art looks pretty.)

161. Gurren Lagann is totally about dicks. I don't care if they picked drills "just because it looked cool," there's enough other phallic stuff in there that I cannot believe there's not at least a little subconscious penis-worship going on.

That said...

It's still pretty meaningful once you get past the lolololcocks. But, you know, not everyone wants to get past the lolololcocks. Just don't rag on those of us who do.

167. I've been a hardcore Sweeney Todd fan for years, and I had no idea Pirelli was supposed to be played by a woman.

115. My college experience made me wary of activists, even the ones whose causes I wholeheartedly agree with. There are activists out there who have common sense, and who know how to actually accomplish things--don't let the irritating ones, whether in fandom or real life, discourage you from supporting their causes.
123. Adaptations can be fun if you take them as wholly separate from the original work; mythology, especially, has so many different adaptations and homages and re-imaginings that I really find it worth it to check out with an open mind. That said, I know nothing about Merlin itself.
129. ...I just realized I can't hate Vogler anymore because I think "Emerson! :D"

107; It's sad how I only recognize the first pic from that motivational poster saying "Vagina: It's not a clown car". And I agree, the way the world is right now, that's not really a positive thing to make 'famous'.

110; I haven't seen the anime yet, but I'M SO IN LOVE WITH THE MANGA. I bet you're happy over the second season, right, OP? ^^

143; I'd say "WAIT, SOMEONE OUT THERE THINKS SHE'S WHINY AND WEAK, what?" but... fandom... sometimes fandom... D: that said, HELL YEAH, OP.

146; AN ONANI MASTER KUROSAWA SECRET? *FAPFAPFAP*. This secret made my year and the next one, thanks. Also, it's an awesome secret on itself. ♥ YOU GO, OP.

110 OP

YES.
I don't wanna wait until February. But I'm willing.

[identity profile] postal152.livejournal.com 2008-12-26 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
120. I'd say that's true for some people, but I actually prefer the slashiness without the sex sometimes. Especially H/W, I don't know why, but it just feels more poignant to me sometimes when it's not about the sex. (LOL I'm such a schmoop, help.) If you genuinely want to write smut some day, by all means, do it! But don't write smut just because you want the popularity.

129. I think the Tritter-hate is so much greater than the Vogler-hate not necessarily because of Tritter himself, but what resulted from Tritter. It went on for way too long, and House hit absolute rock-bottom, with his ODing and estrangement from Wilson and all the awful things he was doing.... *shudder* I think I might have actually missed some Vogler episodes, now that you mention it. D:

140. I'm haven't even watched Merlin, but I just have to say, this secret rocks. I get annoyed at these kinds of coms for any show, slash, het, or gen. It's not the slash fans or the het fans who are keeping you from enjoying your show - your attitude is keeping you from enjoying the show. No one is forcing you to read anything - the idea that someone else's likes and dislikes could ruin something for you? Sounds pretty immature. :/

141. I like this secret a WHOLE LOT. :D

163. I know, I still don't understand why shit like this even matters. Blerg.

Everyone is arguing that John and Kate shouldn't be coupled with the Duggers. True the Duggers need to knock it the hell off, I don't care if god is saying you can have a million babies, doesn't mean you should. John and Kate already had twins. They had their kids, why did they need more from their own dna? Because when the natural way didn't work they went to science and said "OH lol fix me" and science and most people know that when you use techniques like the ones involved there who end up with multiple births. They did it anyway. That's what's irresponsible. Not only that but they could of adopted more kids but no they decided it had to be their DNA in order to love them or something. Which is just sad.

People shouldn't have more babies then they have nipples, it's like a damn animal knows their baby is not going to get fed or taken care of well enough if it doesn't have a nipple. Just BAH this is why we have over population problems.

BY THE WAY, you are a FAILED purist because if you'd done your research before you tried to be an elitist jerk, you'd have realized that the only time Pirelli was played by a woman was in the revival (I am reasonably certain of this, but if I have failed in my research--because I haven't seen all the versions yet--then I apologize, but the point still stands). In the original, Pirelli was played by a dude. Sorry about your luck.

Am I the only person in the world who likes each of the versions of this equally? I haven't seen all versions of the play, but I've been through several Sweeneys and Lovetts and I like them all. Play, revival, movie. Whatever. I just like Sweeney Todd.

(Unlike ALL THOSE Beowulf movies, those made me want to strangle the writers, the directors and everyone else involved in the creative process.) 134 - Apropos boring - PLEASE STOP USING THAT FANART. Every Hetalia secret uses it. It's pretty and all but I'm sick of seeing it all the time!

123. You and me both. But the more I actually hear about it, the less I want to. I had to stop watching Robin Hood in the middle of season two because it was making my brain break, and what I've heard of Merlin seems a thousand times worse.

107. I've only seen episodes of Jon & Kate..., but I would definitely have to agree. The fact that the parents are exploiting their children, who are being deprived of normal lives, for what probably is much-needed money disgusts me to no end.

141. Agreed, but you spelled "elitist" wrong.

I disagree, if only on account of the "much-needed money". I mean, how would they put up to eight kids through college (at the same time) if they didn't have extra money put away?
